Whenever I see your shots of the RAAF Hornets, I remember a couple of years
ago, ok, more than a couple, when the USS Midway took their first cruise to
Sydney with our new Hornets. I was manning a static display of our H-3,
parked nose-to-nose with a Hornet. I had a couple of RAAF pilots approach
me, assuming I was with the FA-18, and asked how I liked the Hornet. I
replied that I didn't like it at all. After the shock sank in, they asked
me why. I told them that with the F-4's we got 2 rescues per crash and only
one with the Hornet. The CO of VFA 151 was standing behind me. I didn't
make any friends that day.
