View Full Version : Discus B speeds to fly

A couple of years ago someone mentioned on this site a list of maximum
efficient speeds based on total weights for the Discus B. I believe
this info was from a club in the UK. I got a copy of that data, but
didn't back it up. A fried hard drive on a new computer toasted it.
Can anyone lead me to that info again?

I think this is the information you are searching.
I printed out this information some time back from
somewhere on the web.
'The Discus (B, CS) polar curve has an inflection,
a bending at a moderate high speed. If you exceed this
speed, you are in a good sense loosing performance.
The sink of the glider is increased more than usual.
To get the maximum of the plane, it is clever to fly
the glider in the speed range till the inflection point.'
Gross Wt(lbs) V Knots
661 82
717 86
772 89
827 92
882 95
937 98
992 101
1047 104
1102 106
1157 109
