Excellent photos.
It's hard to determine from the angles if the new aircraft carrier deck and
island had been built when you visited. Were they finished? It's neat to
walk the deck of the carrier and see how it was in the old days, Tom

There was a carrier deck and
island....Independence class. Don't know if that
is the decking you are referring to or if it has
been changed. I know the museum is in a constant
state of change from pics other posters have shared.
