Maybe they were referring to the non-pilot aircrews? I know there are a
few that frequent this NG that have flown for years in the military without
being pilots. (20 years myself).

Never to be outdone, it appears that the RAAF did the same type of thing
recently with a C130 as the camera ship and an FA18.
It was shown on the Channel 10 news here yesterday.
