Full procedure versu vectors by
Wyatt Emmerich[_2_]
With my 530 upgraded to WAAS, I think it's easier to fly full procedure GPS
approaches rather than take vectors. Does it complicate life for controllers
when you request the full procedure? I get the feeling that they would
rather vector me on the ILS than have me shoot a GPS full approach.
I...

Landing fee at SJC? Are we now so far?? by
ThomasH
Hi:
my friend from SoCal complained several times that every
each time he lands in SJC to visit us, even if it is for
15min only to make a pickup, as soon he taxis to transient
parking at the Jet Center, they charge him $40. I called
Jet Center, but they decline to give any answer.
I do not fly...

telex headphone rebate by
Mike Noel
In case anyone is looking for headsets now, telex is offering a $50 rebate
on all of their Stratus line. I have a Stratus 30 ANR and I'm quite happy
with it. The 30 would be around $350 with the rebate. It uses 2 AA
batteries and includes music and cellphone intefaces.

What-cha Gonna Do When They Come For You? by

What-cha Gonna Do When They Come For You?
Every regular reader of this blog is familiar with the
Failed Aviation Administration's psychotic conduct and
discipline efforts. The agency will gladly fire a union
representative for posting a cartoon on a bulletin board,
happily suspend another...

Structural failure due to harmonic vibration by
Jay Honeck
I've just finished reading the tale of the first round trip coast-to-
coast flight (which was accomplished by mid-air refueling,
occasionally from milk cans) from Spokane, WA to the east coast and
back, way back in 1929. They flew a distance of 10,000 miles (they
circled over airports whilst...

Alarus for training? by
Scott[_5_]
What do we think of an Alarus CH2000 as a primary trainer and as a weekend
flyer? I've run into a possible opportunity to buy a used CH2000 for
possibly well under market value (at auction, so it really depends on where
the bidding goes). I also have a couple of guys who might be interested...

"Slapping The Crap Out Of The FAA." by
LeroyJones
Many of you are now following the exploits of our friends in
Rockland County, New York as they fight the Failed Aviation
Administration over some cockamamie plan to reroute aircraft
in and around New York City. For those of you who are
unfamiliar with the combatant citizens, you can read about...

Engine out practice by
Jay Honeck
As previously noted (in the thread about Paul's wife getting scared),
Mary and I had virtually stopped doing this kind of flying for fear of
harming our (very expensive) engine. A lively debate ensued as to
whether or not repeated high-to-low-to-high power applications would
wear out your engine...
