Plane crashed in DC ADIZ? by
cjcampbell
AVweb is reporting that a plane crashed in the DC ADIZ after ATC told
him that he had violated the ADIZ and ordered him to land at Tipton.
According to ATC tapes he asked for an in-flight IFR clearance, was
told he had violated the ADIZ and that he must land at Tipton, then he
crashed.
It will be...

lancair crash scapoose, OR by
gatt
Yesterday, according to the news, a pilot and his grandson walked away from
a crashed Lancair after it had an electrical failure on takeoff and made a
gear-up crash landing.
Question: Do Lancairs not have a hydraulic dump or something to lower the
gear in the event of such a failure?

It is like a breath of fresh air. It is as satisfying as hanging up on the

Lowrance Airmap 600c GPS by
CareBear
Are there any good tips, cheat sheets, etc. for using the 600c? I have just
got one (as a gift) and interested in its aviation functionality. Yes, I
have "glanced" through the manual. Any pros or cons to this unit? Any help
is appreciated.
By the way, I did my solo xc last week. It went...

AF#2/conditions by
Christopher Range
My fiance has been cleared to fly and, since I am not having any
problems with my shunt, I am almost assured of being cleared to fly.
My only concern now is, the weather since, we have had light dustings
the last three days, at about the same time every day.
Since it is 10-14-2006 and, the...

Are autopilots allowed for IFR training? by
Mxsmanic
Can you use an autopilot when training for or being examined for an
instrument rating, or do you have to fly the aircraft by hand?

Keep it up by
birdog
I'm an 80 year old who has long since lost his medical. I started flying in
1944, and would love to hear tales from some old fabric and tailwheel
pilots. Age can take you out of the air, but flying stays in your blood.
I heard recently that an old friend, a female, who has managed the airport...

MS Flight Sim X by

First let me say I don't live in France.
I just loaded up the newest version of MSFS ( X ) and I must saw I've
very impressed. The graphics are tremendous and the plane handling is
much better then I remember from before. I must say I've improved my
computer significantly since I last used FS...

Oxygen question by
Dan Youngquist
Hi all,
A couple questions for those who use oxygen and an oximeter. What oxygen
level do you maintain in flight? How much oxygen (liters per minute, or
equivalent rate if you use a conserving regulator) do you typically use,
at what altitude?

GA bias in "general" insurance? by

Received yet another mailing offer for disability insurance - from a

disability. The insurance covered accidents at home or at work, and there
were very few outright exclusions. Of the eight or so exclusions they
listed, two...

ATC speed instructions, wind and altimeter indications by
Mxsmanic
ATC never gives me speed instructions in simulation; how common are
they in real life? I presume they know enough about aircraft types to
know how fast or slow they can go?
Also, don't controllers give wind speed and direction when clearing
someone for take-off? I never get that in simulation,...

ATC subtle hints by

I really get a kick out of how subtle ATC can be sometimes in giving those

that have given me a chuckle while flying along. It got me to thinking about
what some of the more funny ones you guys have heard over the...
