G1000 Check out by
Michelle
Well now I know why it is called the G1000 because that is how much it
costs to get checked out in one.
This afternoon I finished my checkout in a G1000 equipped Diamond Star (
180 HP four place). That was my excitement for New Years Eve. After
finishing this posting I will be headed to...

Another Cirrus Down by
Robert M. Gary
Interestingly CAP just received a memo from Cirrus warning us about the
parachute system and the airbag system. Apparently both become very
dangerous items to a recovery team. They said recovery teams should
**NOT** approach the aircraft until contacting Cirrus if at all
possible. Apparently there...

New Traffic Alert product.. by
Dave S
The Canard Aviation forum had a quick heads up about this product:
http://www.zaonflight.com/http://www.zaonflight.com/
Two models of passive traffic detection that are similar to existing
ones: Using the "local" transponder as a benchmark for gauging distance
from other targets.
One model,...

C-152 Emergency Landing at Rancho Murietta by

Check out this link:

The video shows the tracks left in the mud by the mains and front
tire...
As quoted by the news-copter, it appears to have been a text book
soft-field approach. You can see when he pans out that the mains are
the only tracks in...

reversed towbar by
Jose
Somewhere on the net I came across a towbar for cherokees, which was
reversed in such a way that one could push on the wing and steer with
this towbar all by oneself. However, as the saying goes, I can't find
it again.
Anybody know of such a device?

aviation lingo question by
[email protected]
Hi,
I am using a scanner to listen to my local airport and I often hear
"clear the option". Does this mean "you are clear to take-off"?
Also - were could I look up the usage & rules used for aircraft-tower
communacations?
Thanks,

Autopilot by
[email protected]
Salutations All,
I know this isn't a flight-simulator group, but I've got a question for
all the real pilots out the In general, how much do commercial
aviation pilots use their auto-pilot?
I've been spending time learning IFR navigation in FS 2004, and while
up and about I'm constantly...

FAA Sectional and TAC Maps on my Website by

Ladies and Gents:
I have put the current sectional and terminal area charts from the FAA
onto my website. They have also been converted into more reasonably
sized jpeg files. They are available for free download at

I find such on-line access very convenient...

FAA Part 61 & 141 FAQ's gone! by
Barry
To All:
Removal of the FAA AFS-800 Part 61 and 141 FAQ web site
Last month the FAA cancelled the AFS-800 Part 61 and Part 141 FAQ's.
Evidently the reason was because the FAA Public Relations folks, the creator
of the FAA's main "How do I become a Pilot?" FAQ web page convinced the...

Wurtsboro Airport NY Closed ?? by
PA-12
I see a Notam that the main runway has been closed since early
December. There was also an article about a developer looking to keep
it as an airport but building houses.
Anyone have any idea what's going on there?
Thanks.

Misrepresenting on medical applications by
Dan Foster
There was a thread recently where this was briefly discussed, though I
can't seem to quite find it now.
On AOPA's web site, they talk a bit about how the feds do try to levy
stiff penalties on people whom intentionally misrepresents facts on the
medical, if they're caught.
(And they indicate that...
