Bud Turner
Well...should I? It's on sale at RS for $150. I live in San Diego and want
to listen to PD, Fire, etc. Is the city digital? Anyone have this radio?
What do you think about it? Any feedback would be swell...
thanks,
Bud

GUMPS/Instrument approaches by
gatt
Hey, all. Haven't shot instrument approaches in a complex aircraft yet,
and I'm getting ready to so I'm curious:
When you're doing a practice approach in which you know it's going to be
missed, do you complete/amend/ignore the GUMPS check? I'm guessing yes,
but I'm curious as to what others...

CFIs: THE IMPORTANCE OF LANGUAGE! by
gatt
When we were doing touch and goes during a complex checkout yesterday we had
an incident right after touchdown because of a blue heron in our immediate
path. The CFI said "to your detriment you already had the flaps at one
notch...", which confused me.
Later, he pulled the power on me approaching...

local airport and FBO for flight training and rentals? Language preference

little/no...

Angel Flight call signs by
Doug Carter
I just read the procedures handbooks for two different Angel Flight
organizations and noticed that one recommends the call sign "Compassion"
and filing flight plans with the identifier "CMFxxx" and the other,
"Angel Flight" and the identifier "NGFxxx."
Having heard "Angel Flight xxx" for years I...

Need replacement medical certificate by
Ben Smith
My vehicle was broken into a couple weeks ago, and I don't mind the $75 CD
player being taken, the butt-munch took my bag of flight gear!
In the bag were my (2) H10-13.4 headsets, kneeboard, charts, checklists,
LOGBOOK, and my medical certificate. Luckily I had a fairly recent copy of
my logbook....

What the heck? Greenbrier TFR? by
Geoffrey Barnes
So it looks like they have slapped a TFR over the Greenbrier resort in West
Virginia for the entire freakin' weekend. And this time, it's not even for
the president, or vice president, or even anyone in the executive branch.
From what I can gather, all that is happening is that a couple of...
