GPSMAP 195 altitude by
S Narayan
I have the GPSMAP195 and it looks like there is no way to get altitude
information to be stored and then later downloaded as part of the track
information. The only way around it is to have a computer connected that can
download the data real time (NMEA). I checked the firmware upgrades which go
up...

Airspeed of military planes by
Skip Schipper
IBM The first flight of the 747 was on 9 Feb 1969 and the first
scheduled airline flight was on Pan Am from NY to London on 22 Feb 1970
so you could not have seen one fly at LAX in 1968. Just trying to set
the record straight.

Flying Music -- iTunes PIREP by
Jay Honeck
A recent thread talked about downloading music for playing in the plane.
Being an old fossil, I had never done this before, and solicited suggestions
and help regarding this unknown (to me) area of the internet.
Several sites were suggested and explored, but the only "legal" (meaning
"pay per...

A321 X-wind landing... by
Jeff
Glad I wasnt on that plane, at least they had sense to go around (or
somewhere else) the wind must have been howling for an airliner to get
tossed around like that.

Renting ?'s by
Eric Backscheider
I had a few questions about renting aircraft. I am very close to
taking my check ride and my FBO said once I get my ticket I then need
to carry a 25k insurance policy on the plane to rent from them. I
don't have a big deal with this, but they go on to say that in the
tailwheel plane that I have...

perfect PDA for pilots? by
Patrick Kormann
Hi!
I wonder if it's possible to say what PDA would be best for pilots? On
what platform is the most valuable Software available? (Pocket Windows,
Palm?)
For car navigation, there is good software (with bluetooth GPS) - is
there something similar for aviation?
By the way - Pocket Windows exists...

Frustrated Student Pilot About to Quit by
Litwin
I am a student pilot with 18 hours of flight time, and have been told
that I am very close to soloing. However, I have reached the point
that I am about to give it up, and not because, I cannot fly the
pattern, do landings, steep turns, etc., or even costs or medical.
This is why:
1. I have a...
