Cessna Struts by
jls
These are the most wonderfully engineered oleo struts in the world. They
are easy to rebuild and easy to service.
Filling one with 5606 hydraulic fluid, however, is not best done by the
book. You slip a tube which fits tightly over the schrader (with the stem
removed) and the other end of the...

Is someone else selling them?

ZZZZZZ definition of misery by
Jerry Springer
Definition of misery: Going to the Arlington airshow and having it pour
down rain all day Friday with winds blowing everything away that
was not tied down. The real misery part was having to listen to Zoom be
interviewed on the PA system talking about ALL of the airplanes he has
flown and ALL of...

TAKE A MINUTE EVERYONE by
Edward Pereira
Basic Facts A while back, I was browsing these newsgroups, just like you
are now, and came across an article similar to this that said you could
make thousands of CASH within weeks with only an initial investment of
$6.00 plus stamps!
So I thought, "Yeah, right, this must be a scam!" But like...

Few Observations by
[email protected]
That was a good post answering Horowitz. I have just done a lot of
painting and agree that orange peel is because of paint not flowing out
for lack of solvent. You have to find a balance --- too much solvent
and you get runs; too little solvent and you get orange peel. When you
get it just...

Corrosion Evaluation Help by
Dick
In trying to restore an uncompleted, decades old project, some corrosion is
evident in the wing spars and as an old non-aero engineer, I would like to
know the basis or the process for evaluating it before proceeding.
The spar has stacked, rectangular-bar caps
riveted to a "C" shape web (as in...

Prop damage from AWOL spinner by
SteveR
Last weekend I lost my spinner through my prop. I had removed it the previous weekend because the screw kept coming loose. I was going to leave it off until I found the right solution. An A&P where I keep my plane saw me messing with it, and came over to help. He went and grabbed a bolt and a...

Captain Woody Herman by
jls
For those of you who don't know this guy, he is one class act. You can
order A-65, C-85, C-90, and O-200 parts from him and he will send them to
you with a bill. That's how trusting he is.
A year or so ago I bought some Continental parts from Woody, including a set
of stellite-faced exhaust...

Microair Transponder brass screws? by
abripl
Anybody know a source for metric brass screws for the Microair
transponder? The ones that came with it are steel and I need to cut
down on magnetic interference. I think they are 12mm x 4mm dia x 0.8mm
pitch.

Hello builders,
There's a v-speed database and we'd like to have it populated. Please put
in the appropriate v speeds for the aircraft that you fly. A nice
database will help everyone.

restoring a DC9 restroom... at home by
[email protected]
I want use my home workshop to rebuild an old, junked restroom from a
USAF DC9.
The milspec drawings show a slot for "used razor blades".
How often am I supposed to clean out the used razor blades to maintain
airworthiness specs?
