Glad to hear the initial reports were wrong about accidents, as they usually are. by Tedstriker
What a relief to find out that the accidents were not fatals. Initial reports always seem to come in worse than the facts.

Two accidents at Lakeland SNF today. Anyone know anything more? One fatal, maybe both. by Tedstriker
Just as I was leaving Bartow today in my homebuilt for the flight back home to NC, I was informed there were two accidents at SNF today. One involved a helicopter at Choppertown, and the other was a Glasair that dropped in on the runway. The reports I got were that it went end over end, fiberglass...

wanted: hangar door tips by Joa
Our EAA chapter had a 40' hangar door that split in the middle and folded sideways (each half). The ends were hinged and the center had a single roller that ran in a track above. The bottom was not attached in any way and just hung. It was held closed and open with large steel pins that dropped...

Carrying steel to China by Rich S.
Okay - I'm asking this on r.a.h. because it is the greatest brain pool I can think of. Within the last week I have been told: "If you want to buy the 5/16" steel plate to make a new centerboard for your sailboat, it will cost $100." "4130 plate isn't available right now."

28 volt pitot heat by B2431
Will running a 28 volt pitot tube heat on 12 volts heat it enough to use? I keep seeing 28 volt pitot tubes on e-bay and was wondering if they would do the job. Dan, U.S. Air Force, retired

Does anyone know Jack Wilhelmson's status (EZ Nose Lift)? by Richard Riley
Jack Wilhelmson's web page at www.eznoselift.com is dead or has some kind of a server problem. He's not answering his phone (and there isn't an answering machine) I'm hoping it's just a server glitch and he's at Sun n Fun. Does anyone know if his stuff is available, or has he shut down?

Replace fabric with glass by Ernest Christley
Most of the fabric covered aiplanes I've seen didn't seem that hard. That is, you could walk up to them and push the fabric in with your hand. The way I understand the fabric process, it is basically a composite structure. You have a nylon cloth with a paint "epoxy". Could a much stronger and...

Liquid Shim by Boelkowj
Has anyone heard of this stuff which can be used in the aerospace industry for applications where reaming may not be necessary? Do you have a name of this product and what are the limitations in using it. Is it FAA approved? Thanks. Larry

ram air pressure governed variable pitch prop by Bruce Meacham
I remember seeing somewhere in some rag (SA, AOPA pilot maybe Kitplanes) a new variable pitch propellor system that used ram air pushing against the tip of the spinner to govern the blade pitch. It had not propellor control, no hollow crank, no rpm governer, no connections at all. Just when you...

Red Alert: Terrorist build kamikaze planes for attacks by Hank Higgens
Islamic terrorists are building kamikaze planes to deliver large loads of explosives into buildings! These planes are constructed very simple, they donīt need to land anymore, the pilot just has to crash into his target as a flying suicide bomber. This is extremely dangerous, because itīs almost...

Straight restrictor fitting? by nauga
Van's used to sell straight restrictor fittings, an AN416-4 nipple to 1/8 pipe fitting filled and drilled with a teeny little opening. They don't seem to carry the straight ones anymore, and that's what I need. Neither does Wicks. Anyone know where to find 'em? Before someone says, "Make yer...

Looks like the first day of sun 'n fun is out for bad weather by Tedstriker
The weather isn't going to improve until wed. So there's no hurry to get to sun 'n fun. I'm hoping to get out of the Charlotte area on Wed. and fly nonstop to the fly-in if I'm lucky. The nice thing about the bad weather being at the begining of the fly-in is it makes getting home a lot easier....
