Scott Alexander[_2_]
Contest Director Paul Cordell asked me to give a daily RAS report on
here for all you glider addicts.
In case you have never been to New Castle, Virginia before, let me
describe it. The town population is 350 people, with panoramic view
of mountains 4,000 feet tall surrounding the valley. Look...

PowerFlarm PCAS performance by
Ramy
After flying for few month with Powerflarm brick, I can say that while the flarm functionality works great, the PCAS performance is poor. I have yet to see an ADS-B target so cant comment on that. I am flying with both my trusty old Zaon MRX and Powerflarm and can say that the MRX consistently...

LX-Nano to SN-10B by
Piet Barber
So... has anybody successfully gotten the LX-Nano to be the GPS source for the SN-10? I've made my own RJ-45 cables to connect the two, but the SN-10 refuses to acknowledge that there's a GPS attached. My volkslogger blew up last spring, and we've not been able to make any use of the SN-10,...

Mixed mode dual engine jets, why we are seeing none of those? by
AD
Not sure what's a fitting NG for this.
Being a newbie to the aircraft related scene I've got to ask this:
why we are not seeing any asymmetrical designs in dual engine jets.
Say you have a low bypass turbofan for takeoff (and redundancy) and a
high bypass turbofan
for soaking in the marine...

For Sale PowerFLARM Portable (USA) by
Andy[_1_]
I purchased this unit, serial 001287, together with a PowerFLARM Core
and external display, from Craggy Aero as part of an Arizona Soaring
Association group purchase. The unit was received August 2012.
After comparing the two systems I have decided to continue to use my
Zaon PCAS in my airplane...

Anyone use the Optimate series of battery chargers? by
[email protected][_1_]
http://www.tecmate.com/u_optimate_5.php
They are used by the 2-meter radio folks and lots of motorcycle people. Aircraft Spruce sells them to airplane people.
Seems like a highly versatile compact, durable charger/maintainer/diagnostic tool at a decent price.
Perhaps overkill for our...

ILEC Instruments by
K
New owner (Not by choice) of SN10 driven by Volkslogger. Was going to tear out and replace with something newer but I thought Id try and see how I liked it. First, the technology seems ancient, some type of 9 point connector (What happened to SD cards or thumb drives) and the factory site seems...

PowerFLARM dipole installation in LS6 by
kirk.stant
Anyone out there managed to fit a PF dipole onto an LS-6/8 panel? The clearance between my panel cover and the canopy is less than the height of the dipole (everywhere), so unless I mount it way off center (strongly discouraged in the installation notes) it aint gonna fit.
My temp solution will be...

FAA Actually being helpful! by
Steve Leonard[_2_]
Was just browsing the FAA Registry and noticed they have made a change. They have actually added some useful information for those that have a Mode S Transponder. They now show your Mode S code in both hex and octal.

Ilec SN10 by
K
Anyone using an ILEC SN10 with a Volkslogger. I just got this and am trying to make heads or tails out of it. I had some old Cambridge equipment in my former plane that I could no longer hook to a computer but my Oudie talked to it just fine and it worked well. Now it looks I will have to bring a...

Another stall spin by
Jp Stewart
From TA's Dansville contest write-up:
"Unfortunately, we were also saddened to hear of yet another apparent stall-spin fatality; Jim Rizzo, Finger Lakes club president and FAA Designated Examiner for the area was killed when his glider crashed into a farmer’s field not far from the Dansville...

Lak 12 rigging by
Colin Roney
Has anyone acquired some experience of using one of the proprietry single
man rigging aids for this glider?
If so, which one did they choose and were there any special features
incorporated in the design that made rigging easier?
Any other tips would be much appreciated.
