Glider Hours by
Walt Connelly
I have seen a number of glider advertised and most tell you the total time. Unlike a powered airplane which has a tach or a Hobbs meter, gliders seldom have any built in way to determine the actually time on the air frame. While people might try to inflate their personal flying time, I would not...

This weekend Bob Carlton brought his Bonus Jet glider to Phoenix for
Arizona Soaring Association members to demo and presented a fine
PowerPoint / video presentation after our BBQ dinner at Turf Soaring.
What a great time we all had. The weather cooperated, and although it
was a tad windy, there...

tail ballast antifreeze by
[email protected]
I've read the past posts on using ~20% methanol to prevent tail ballast
from freezing. I have these questions three:
1) Is methanol in any way corrosive to rubber parts/seals?
2) Is there a reason not to use ethanol if methanol can't be found?
3) Does a glider flying in the Great Basin area in...

LX20 flight download errors by
Gabriel Duford
Thanks! The same baudrate is used on the computers and LX20.
I would send my LX20 to you Paul: it needs calibration anyways ;) The problem is that it is my GPS souce for feeding my LX4000, so I have to find an alternative GPS source while the unit is in the "mail" :)
I am trying the LXe software...

Gabriel Duford
Hi,
I tried downloading my first flight of the 2011 season from my LX20 (old hardware version). SeeYou connects fine, but after about a minute, it says that there was an error communicating, error code -14. I tried with 3 different computers, one with a serial port (not going through a...

For Sale: Wingmate Assembly Assistant by
Wm. Feldbaumer
The Wingmate can be used for one-person assembly or to take the load
off the person handling the wingtip. It has wheels, folds up, and can
be stored easily in a sailplane trailer.
I used it so that my wife would not have to hold the weight of the
wingtip. The Wingmate holds the weight, allows the...

microair problem by
Dixie Sierra
I've had a Microair for about 3 years. It's rev P. I've found it to
be very (extremely) sensitive to low voltage. But, that's not the
issue for this discussion. I was flying a few days ago when it began
to turn itself on and off in a more or less random fashion. All of my
other electronics were...

Afternoon all,
I'm back in Breckenridge, Colorado in September on vacation and would
love to fly there but converting my license seems a heap of bother for a
few flights.
I see there is a company based in Boulder that offer trial flights at
inflated prices but wondered if there may be any Co....
