Grounding of control tubes/cables by
jcarlyle
Poking around inside my fiberglass glider, I discovered a ground lead
from the rudder pedal/cable assembly to the negative electrical system
bus bar. Interestingly, there was no corresponding ground lead to the
metal aileron/elevator control rods.
Searching past posts to RAS, I discovered threads...

Trying to Find John Burnham by
Paul Remde
Hi,
I am trying to find John Burnham. He has been trying to contact me as well.
He sent me a long letter explaining that he has been trying to reach me over
the phone, and yet I have no record of voicemail messages from him. He
included a cell phone number in the letter he sent, but the...

Waypoint/turnpoint files by
[email protected]
Is there any rationality to the numbering of waypoints in files?
Looking at some from the Turnpoint Exchange, I can't find any real
order. If there's not a reason for a waypoint to be a specific
number, I can shuffle and renumber at will, right??

fine detail available with high definition video (both live and with

Association for Experimental Sailplanes? by
Jim Meade
I'm bying an experimental registered sailplane. Are there any
specific organizations that cater to those interests?
I looked at Experimental Sailplane Association's website, but it seems
3-4 months out of date and makes me wonder if it is truly active.
TIA for any suggestions.

100 Low Lead availability - cont. by
Bill Daniels
This is a continuation of the earlier thread about tow plane fuel.
From AVWEB February 11, 2008:
Tetra-Ethyl Lead
If I had an aircraft that required 100LL, I would read every report from
Innospec, the only manufacturer of tetra-ethyl lead (TEL). Here is a quote
from their 2007 third quarter...

The A-4 Skyhawk was an attack aircraft designed to operate from US
Navy aircraft carriers. Some of the A-4 Skyhawk variants served with
Blue Angels, the Navy's flight demonstration squadron.
Warplanes.com offers the A-4 Skyhawk model aircraft flown by the Blue
Angels. The model aircraft was made...

Cloud type pictures by
smithcorp
G'day all,
With this group's previous advice, I bought some books on weather for
soaring (my copy of Wallington sadly went astray in the post),
including Pagen. This last is a good book and I found it very useful,
but in my copy, the black and white photos of cloud examples had such
poor contrast...

Phoenix, AZ class B and LOA by
Andy[_1_]
Anyone planning on flying gliders near Phoenix, Arizona, needs to be
aware that there have been major changes to the class B airspace since
last soaring season. The changes have a direct impact on the airspace
available to gliders in the vicinity of Estrella Sailport and Turf
Soaring.
Also, the...

WinPilot glide polar for Speed Astir by
[email protected]
Anyone happen to know where I can find a WinPilot glide polar for a
Speed Astir? I had one last year, but managed to lose it. I don't
remember where I got it. I had it backed up on my Desktop hard drive,
which of course, chose the week my iPAQ died to go up in smoke.
TIA

Why so expensive (flight recorders) by
Jim Beckman
A simple (EW Microrecorder) is under $800. In todays
money, an extra $20 for a badge flight is less than
the round of beers you buy. 40 badge flights and you
can buy a second one. Pretty soon, you hold a club
meeting to decide what to buy next once there are
enough
recorders.

Cobra trailer lift struts for clamshell top by
[email protected]
I have a 2002 glasstop cobra and I have a lift strut (nitrogen
spring?) that just failed on me.
It is very difficult to lift the clamshell with even just one failed
strut.
Is there anyone in the US that might have these in stock?
If anyone has replaced theirs with a US made strut I would also...

SSA Magazine article by
Bill Daniels
OK, this is really going to show my age.
I'm looking for a copy of an article by Bruce Carmichael published, I think,
in a 1960 - 1962 issue of Soaring. The title was something like "Limits to
Sailplane Performance".
I'd like to share it with Al Bowers.
If you have it, or just know exctly...

Warm Feet??? by
Randy[_2_]
What is out there in the market place that is good for
keeping your feet warm in the glider? I am planning to
attend the Marfa Spring Wave Camp for the third time
and I would really like to avoid the cold feet.

I can understand putting your nickname and tail ID on a soaring
sweatshirt, but blood type? Is this a new European fashion/identity
trend? I guess you wouldn't want it embroidered in red thread...
