See Ya Later Padre
When we took off on a mission, Father Kinsella, the group chaplain, our Padre,
would always be standing in his Jeep at the end of the runway. He gave us the
sign of the cross and a blessing as our wheels came up . For sort of good luck,
I always said to myself,. "Be right back...

Why Does Bu$h Have a Private Army of Tax-Paid Contractors? by
Denyav
Mercenaries or contractors? There's more going on in Iraq than just
fighting. There's also rebuilding of infrastructure, building of new
schools etc. But that kind of stuff doesn't sell newspapers.
There is no mercenaries in Iraq, they are all contractors or subcontractors.
Some are building...

Retrieving P3's by
David Lesher
I have another wacko idea, for which this group has the knowledge
to debate.
You might recall that a few years ago we had a minor issue with a
P3's midair collision and emergency landing at a location not
certified as a P3 repair station.
To get it back, We ended up chain-sawing off the wings ...

F/A 18 by
Richard
About 15 years ago I saw a RAAF F/A 18 perform at Ohakea in New Zealand.
After takeoff it flew out to sea. It returned from behind a hangar
travelling slowly down the runway on its tail. The hangar obscured our view
of the transition. It continued down the runway at perhaps 30 mph and 50
metres...

OT Kerry reported for duty. Bush didn't. by
Ron
Did you hear him talk about how he hunts deer with a 12 gauge?
Ron
Well that one is my fault then. My knowledge of deer hunting is from Texas,
and its mostly rifle.

Tradition. by
Grantland
Tradition
When evening falls upon the shore
You smell the salt, and hear the roar
Of surf that breaks in spumes against the reef.
The sun is low, the breeze is cool
The waters hiss, the seagulls call,
The sand is warm and gritty soft beneath your feet
You draw a breath, and close your eyes
And...

Ornithopers? by
Bill Shatzer
While watching the birds at my feeder today, I noticed that they
combine marvelous manueverability with excellent V/STOL characteristics.
With modern materials and computer controls, would revisiting the
idea of ornithopers make any sense? Obivously, they were beyond the
technology of the day...
