Oshkosh Rec.Aviation Get-together details... by
Jay Honeck
Okay, gang, last chance to get the details. Here's how it's gonna work:
Thursday night, immediately after the airshow, we're having a rec.aviation
get together at our campsite in the North 40 campground. We'll have a few
drinks (*gasp*!), and then head on over to Friar Tucks for dinner.
To find...

Argus 5000CE question by
Francois Marquis
Hello,
Has anyone have first hand experience with both the Argus 5000 and Argus
5000ce. I know a lot of users have transitioned to the CE, but
functionality-wise they are about the same. (minus the color, of course)
My biggest issue is that I sometime deplore the contrast of my 5000
unit,...

182 panel by
Jim
Does anybody know what would be the oldest Cessna 182 that one could
re-configure into a standard T "8-pack"? I've seen a '69 done this way, but
older models look like they have a curved panel with less room.
Thanks!

Taking the plunge into ownership. by
Wayne
Well, today I put a deposit on an airplane! It's a 1961 C-175B with an
upgrade to an O360 with a constant speed prop. What a sweet plane, always
hangared with 2268TT. I only will own 1/3 of it, but the other two partners
only flew 200 hours in the last three years total. Can't wait to take her
out....

Synthetic Oil by
kevin
Is anyone running Amsoil 10-40 full synthetic. I have heard some pilots
run this in light singles. I realize it is not certified , so they must
think full synthetic is better than dino oil .

Anti-collision lights required? by
Grandpa B.
Greetings from a frequent reader, and infrequent writer.
I have a question about the requirement for anti-collision lighting. I'm
restoring a '58 Champ, and there's no evidence of it ever having anything
other than Nav lights.
I bought it as a basket case, having been completely disassembled, but...

SR-22 in northern NJ? by
Guy Elden Jr.
Hi all... I'm nearing the completion of my IR training at CDW, and I'm
really eager to try out a Cirrus SR-22 once I'm done. Does anybody know of a
FBO, school, club, or partnership of pilots who have an SR-22 available to
rent or even buy a share of? I'm not quite interested in the Airshares...

Well, who knows, cast bread upon the waters, leave no

We are based at Spirit of St. Louis with a shadeport

more-desireable east facing side of the shadeport which
gets afternoon shade (cooler plane and less damage...

rough engine just after power reduction by
Sydney Hoeltzli
Last night, on a short hop back to home base after an
instrument lesson (read: extended low power ops),
engine shuddered and ran very rough just after level-off
and power reduction. Run-up and takeoff were normal,
and as usual I leaned like heck for taxi and during
runup. About 80 degrees with...

Electric whine in the light circuit - Help by
Victor J. Osborne, Jr.
I flew my (new to me) '87 A36 Bonanza at night for the first time recently
and discovered a whine when the panel lights where turned on. The flood
light switch / circuit doesn't do it and the rheostat for the panel light
dimmer changes the frequency.
Where do I start with the troubleshooting? I...

Another cause of nosewheel shimmy by
Roger Long
We have a shop that's proved that shimmy isn't inevitable in Cessnas, as
other shops have tried to tell me in the past.
The nose gear started to shimmy after 18 months solid as a rock. Turned out
to be water in the wheel, trapped between the two halves and acting like a
wheel weight.
How it got...
