Plating 4130 parts by
Fortunat1[_9_]
I have access to a plating facility (aviation, but it's a jet engine
rebuild shop) where I can get my wing fittings plated. My understanding is
that 4130 cad plating is just that, cadmium and nothing else, but this shop
does it's cad plating by a coating of nickel first and then cad plating.....

what went wrong by
Dick[_1_]
Having spent 4-1/2 hours removing and 1 hour replacing a leaking split seal
on the front of my flanged crankshaft C-85 , my first flight today still
shows leakage....
Never really doing those old Chevy two part split seals well, I guess I'm
still inept G.
I think I'll be able to better the...

Montblack @ OSH (1st Report) by

2007 was a different Oshkosh experience for me, from previous years.

GOO to OSH on gasahol by
RST Engineering
I have good news and I have bad news.
The good news is that Gail and I are going to go from Grass Valley to
Oshkosh (via Iowa City) next month burning nothing but ethanol-laced
gasahol.
The bad news is that we are going to do it in a Subaru wagon.
Simple math. With the advent of gasahol the...

Snail Mail by
[email protected]
San Diego enjoys the nation's highest prices for gasoline and
electricity. Now we appear to be going for the record in pokiest mail
delivery.
Yesterday's mail (Saturday, 4 Aug 2007) included letters from Port
Angeles, Washington, and Riddells Creek, Australia. Both were post-
marked 30...

EA81 engine FS - Ontario Canada by
clare at snyder.on.ca
Anyone looking for an EA81 Subaru engine to convert? I have a
free-turning long block (no water pump or oil pump or intake) that
appears to be clean and in reasonably good shape - no history for sale
in Waterloo Ontario.
If interested let me know NOW (before Wednesday night) or after Aug
19th....

Empty Oshgosh? by
Lou
Maybe it's just me, but I was there Mon-Wed and it seemed that
there was a lot of empy space. Instead of parking the planes back
to back they where just wing tip to wing tip. I also noticed that you
could
grow crops in the ultra light area. I was very interested in looking
at
a two seat LSA that...

Alloys for certified parts? by
[email protected]
I have run across someone who insists that
6061 T6 is not "aircraft grade aluminum".
He claims that there are no certified parts made
from 6061. I find that hard to believe. Aren't there
certified aircraft with welded aluminum frames?

Wanted: RTF or builder-assist Rotax sportplane by
Office 2004 Test Drive User
Here are my qualifications:
- Two-seat
- Either RTF or the type of on-site builder assist where the aircraft is
flyable in under a month!
- Rotax 912 powered (no other modern aircraft engine has impressed me enough
with its reliability).

Arlington report by
Ken Finney
I created a minor firestorm last year by posting some negative comments
about Arlington. It is apparently not a good thing to criticize a volunteer
run event. But anyone that knows me knows that my comments are intended as
constructive criticism. This year, I'm going to send my criticisms in...

Electric Sonex by
Bill Daniels
See: http://www.aero-news.net/index.cfm#d
Well, it wouldn't work for me but the idea might be developed into a
pre-solo trainer. . A one hour duration could translate into 45 minute
instruction sessions costing $50. Dunno...might work for a flight school.
No cross country, of course. That...

Plexiglass problem by
Klettke
I have some older Plexi aircraft windows where the paper protection has been
on for a very long time. Some of the paper has shrunk and cracked into
strips, but is stuck well onto the plexi.
I tried water to soften it, but to no avail.
Any suggestions?
