Pipistrel Taurus: Club Glider? by
Phil Chidekel
Hi Everyone!
Our club has been considering the Pipistrel Taurus as an addition to our fleet. Does anyone have any experience with it, or any thoughts regarding its potential (or lack thereof!) in a club environment?
Don't tear each other apart, please... I've seen y'all get viscous on here before...

Knobs on the right instead of the left? by
Surge
I'm trying to figure out why some variometer manufacturers place the knobs on the right instead of the left of their instrumentation.
Ilec, LXNav and Butterfly/Air Avionics place their knobs on the right.
ClearNav place them on the top left and bottom right.
Considering that most people fly...

OLC flight detailss default to not showing comments by
JS
In recent days OLC changed what you initially see in flight details to not include comments. Comments must be opened with the down arrow to the right of "Comment" for each flight.
Consistent in Firefox, Opera, Chrome and Internet Exploder on Windows. Also Chrome, Firefox and Safari on Mac.
Seems an...

Dashing Crosswind by
Papa3[_2_]
Looks like a classic (though brutally cold) ridge day shaping up in the Appalachians. As of now we've got about a half-dozen hearty souls on task from Blairstown including the usual suspects in 1-26s. At least 3 of the guys are carrying spot trackers, so check them out on the SSA Sailplane...

Radios with fixed, pre-set frequencies (Walter Dittel FSG16). Why? by
Surge
I am in possession of a Walter Dittel FSG16 and I sometimes fly club owned gliders which also carry the FSG16.
To my absolute surprise I found out after several years of using them that they only support 12 pre-selected channels/frequencies which can apparently only be set by an authorized...

Discus Rudder Pedal Adjustment by
[email protected]
Just got my Discus back from the shop and noticed the rudder pedal adjustment cable is not attached to the "adjustment mechanism" between the rudder pedals. Can anyone shed some light on how to reattach (is there a diagram somewhere)?
I think there may be a spring missing as well.
Thanks,
Jim

Gliding accident "Cold Case" Investigation by
Vaughn Simon[_2_]
History says that gliding pioneer Otto Lilienthal died after stalling
his primitive hang glider from an agl of about 50 feet. As a pilot I
never found much mysterious about that. However, some curious souls in
Germany intend to recreate his glider from original plans and materials
to perform...

Gap seals by
Blake Seese 3Y
Now that my radio is working again my attention is turning back towards glider performance. My PIK 20B has very close fitting ailerons, but no mylar seals on them. My question is, are gap seals required top and bottom, just bottom, just top? I think the laminar flow is off the wing by the time it...

Newest Sailplane in the world on display at the 2016 SSA convention by
SF
The statement that the Ventus 3 would be at the Greenville convention is completely my responsibility. At the time I made it I thought that it was true. As soon as I was made aware that it was not true, I pointed RAS readers to a list of what was actually going to be at the show, on Facebook. ...
