1-34 Fuselage Drain Holes by
vontresc
Our club 1-34 lives outside, and during heavy rains will accumulate some water in the fuselage. There appear to be no drain holes in the bottom of the fuselage. Is there supposed to be a drain in there?
If not is there an approved method of adding these?

Leak testing my new ride by
[email protected]
As a result of some pretty funky vario behavior at the recent Bermuda High regional contest, I decided to leak test my new (to me) V2cx ship. I took as my guideline the excellent 2000 (updated in 2008) article on this subject by Mike Borgelt of Borgelt Instruments...

In memory of General Bob Knauff by
[email protected]
We did not know Bob for very long, a few years, not nearly long enough. But I think Rose captured what we, Bob, I and all glider pilots share in this short story:
" Rose wrote: "The first time you set foot in Aguila Arizona some people say "What would anybody be doing here? " Unless you're a...

Emergencies on aerotow by
[email protected]
You cannot teach safety in paragraph-long sound bites.
Unlike a high percentage of glider pilots, if you want to be a safe pilot, you need to educate yourself.
How many launching emergencies are there? All pilots automatically think of rope breaks. Believe it or not, 41 emergencies are listed,...

May Soaring Cover - Cool by
KiloKilo[_2_]
One of the best Soaring covers I have seen ... I'm thinking the camera had to be extended forward off the wing - but it looks out pretty far ... would be interesting to see the camera/rig ... or could it be a formation flight - hard to believe. In any case, great shot by Jim Murray. kk

Testing an electret microphone? by
[email protected]
My radio stopped working. I'm transmitting, but with no audio. I think it's probably the mic, but there are some other components between the mic and the radio. Is there some way I can test my electret mic to confirm it's actually the mic before I order a replacement? From what I understand...

GPS baud rate setting by
Bastoune
Hi all,
I have a GPS puck that acquires/computes a GPS fix every second (1Hz). This GPS then transmits this data to a Vario (V7) and then PDA.
The default baud rate of the GPS is 4800 baud but I have the ability to increase it to 9600 or 19200 bauds. Is there a benefit of a higher transmission...

Fun with trailling edge dive brakes by
Scott Elhardt
I've been happily flying my H303 Mosquito for a year now and my
landings seem to be getting worse as time goes on. I have tried a lot
of approaches to the process, but inevitably I'm faster that I want to
be and don't touch as lightly as I'd like especially with a lot of
brake out.
Any trailing...
