LFO's (lightweight flying objects) by
bumper
Or what to do when the weather says, "no soaring".
For those who don't get out enough (no rude comments directed towards me,
please), you may not have heard of the following aviation related items (no
financial or other connections with this, but they sure is fun!):
"Air Hogs Havoc"...

topo/terrain files for flight computers by
[email protected]
Are topo / terrain files for hand held flight computers universal, or
software specific? I am getting to know XCSOAR, and it appears to suit
my needs. Unfortunately I don't know where to get topo files for the
areas I expect to fly.

DVD's on Aviation/Soaring by
[email protected]
The recent posts on Aviation and Soaring DVD's got my attention. Does
anyone have a copy of the "A Fine Week of Soaring" DVD and/or
"Gladiators of the Sky" DVD that they have watched and would be
willing to sell for a reasonable price?

High altitude jump from a nearly forgotten age by
Bill Daniels
I caught this photo on the Soaring Wikipedia. As it happened, I knew then
Capt. Kittinger during these tests. I thought him to be a very friendly and
enthusiastic aviator though seemingly determined to 'push the envelope'
whenever he had the chance. He was a real "Jet Jocky" and a small boy's...

Vinon-sur-Verdon, France, I have served as helper for pilot of a yellow
Elfe. Very long time before each anticipated take-off, I have been holding a
big sunshade over the pilot. We have been photographed many times, but I...

Looking at things like a Dart 17 or Cobra 15. Anyone

cruise vs. climb article location by
SAM AND LEIGH ZIMMERMAN
I am looking for an article from several years ago that discussed the
relative importance of climb rate as compared to speed to fly between
thermals. This was a fairly detailed comparison of percentage impact on net
speed, emphasizing that 5-10mph cruise errors was far less important than...
