Epiphany #132 by Jay Honeck
As we were flying along yesterday, en route to a good lunch in a nearby town, it happened again. There I was, sitting comfortably at 3500 feet, as rock solid as I am right now, gazing down upon freshly harvested fields and newly barren trees. The sun was warm on my face, but the air was cool. ...

folding bicycle - Cardinal RG by Stephen N Mills
I am planning to buy a folding bicycle for use in Vicky (N2679V - Cardinal RG '75). Eventually there will be two bicycles, his and hers. Occasional use for trips up to 5 or 10 miles in moderate hills, no mountain biking, no centuries. More than three speeds would be nice but I don't know...

Feedback on Pilot Site by [email protected]
We would like your help. The Alpha Pilot Site has just been re-designed. We have updated it to include a new message board system and an entirely new look. I think that I am too involved in the design to evaluate it objectively. If some of you would look it over and give solid input, it would be...

Landing in Alaska? Fear moose collisions no more by AJ
Happy news from Reuters: Pilots flying into and out of a small airport north of Anchorage, Alaska, no longer have to keep an eye out for stray moose on the runway. The municipal airport at Wasilla, a town about 40 miles north of Anchorage, has installed an electric anti-moose mat around...

Post air pictures on usenet. by TThierry
I've changed my gallery and now there are direct links towards the pictures in the gallery. Thus, if you want to show a picture and don't have your web page, as long as it is an air picture, you can use the gallery to make it available on the net, then post the link to access it. Try these ones...

Can Barons back up? by Mxsmanic
I notice that my (simulated) Baron has negative pitch adjustment available, below the feather position. Does this mean reverse thrust, or what? I tried setting it to -25 on the ramp with the engines running, and each time I tried it, the engine stalled a few seconds later. Am I supposed to be...

According to the comments on airnav.com regarding Modesto airport (http://www.airnav.com/airport/KMOD/SKY_TREK#c), someone mentioned that Shell has been selling gasoline without ethanol in northern California gas stations since 2006. Is it true?

Bose active headsets by Mark Manes
I tried Lightspeeds (25XL and Thirty 3G), and Telex Stratus 50D and I still have those two in my aircraft but I wear the Bose! The only thing I wish the Bose had was an external audio input like the other two do (I upgraded the Stratus 50D this month). It's light and comfortable all day...

Required IFR Radios by Bill Denton
If I am reading FAR 91.205 (d) (2) correctly, you only need one COMM radio and one navigation radio (of some type) for IFR operation. If this is correct, how do you stay in contact with ATC while picking up ATIS, etc? Are you allowed to request a frequency change, then come back to ATC? Thanks!
