B-17 landing accident today, Van Nuys, Calif. by
Paul Hirose
Channel 2 in Los Angeles had their news helicopter taping the landing
of a B-17 at the Van Nuys airport this afternoon and got more
excitement than expected. The plane's main landing gear collapsed on
both sides during rollout. According to the TV station's copter pilot,
the B-17 is named "Aluminum...

V-1 "aces" by
Cub Driver
For all the talk about Meteors shooting down V-1s, I was amused to see
that there was no Meteor V-1 "ace". (One pilot did manage to account
for four.)
Most of the V-1 aces flew Griffon-engined Spitfire XIIs, Spitfire
XIVs, and Tempest Vs. The other successful aircraft were Mosquitoes
(at night)...

Take a look at this 737 belly landing video clips.

Pre WW1 insignia by
JDupre5762
Just when did various nations adopt the various cross and cockade or roundel
insignia? Was it after WW1 started and the need for recognition became
apparent or did some nations adopt an insignia before WW1?
When did the US adopt the Star with a dot insignia? I know that they used a
roundel style...

How Good a Replica? by
Ashton Archer III
How close to the original Wright Flyer is the new replica?
Is it also true that the reason it won't fly is that modern flyers
can't mimic the Wright brothers art of handling wing warp as good or
that the conditions for modern flight HAVE to be better than in 1903?
Will the replica attempt to fly...

RAF Invader B Mk1 (A-26) by
frank may
I stumbled up on an A-26 site earlier & it mentioned that 130 (I
think) A-26s had been ordered by the RAF but were later diverted to
the Navy or something. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone's ever seen a
paint scheme for the Invader B. Mk. 1. Sand & spinach over sky, or
what? might look pretty cool.

Where's my Purple Heart? by

I had a wound over my eyebrow which required six stitches while serving

I think the fact that Kerry's PH was issued in spite of the fact that
his lesser wound resulted from misemployment of his own weapon indicates
that I should have received the PH as...
