Dan Luke[_2_]
The recently issued revision to the G1000 software includes an upgrade to
permit loading airways into flightpans.
The upgrade is free to 2004, 2005 and 2006 Cessna G1000 owners, including a
labor allowance for installation. Mine was installed today; I'll report on
how it works this...

Flight above 60,000 ft by
Charles Talleyrand
I just picked up a used U-2. It's quite a hoot to fly, but I'm having
some trouble. Maybe you can help me out.
1) When I go cruising above 60,000 ft I cancel my IFR clearance. Then
I buzz around a bit. But how do I come back down legally? Obviously
I need an IFR clearance to decend back down...

Follow-up on SMO VOR or GPS-A by
B[_2_]
The following NOTAM was issued because of the thread on this news group.
The NACO chart should incorporate the NOTAM in the next chart cycle
(probably late October). In the meantime the NOTAM does modify the
existing NACO chart.

Chief Counsel rulings.... by
[email protected]
Anyone know where to view ruling by the FAA's chief counsel? In
particular, I'm looking for the one that that states "departure
procedures" referred to in Far 91.129(g) are only those traffic
pattern departure routes that the FAA sometimes establishes for a
particular airport. As opposed to say...

SkyVector now has IFR charts online! by
Mxsmanic
SkyVector.com, a site that has long provided very high quality scans of VFR
sectionals, TACs, and Fly charts, has now added low-altitude en-route IFR
charts to its database! High-altitude charts will follow. This is a huge
effort by the site, since IFR charts are available only on paper from the...

I was doing a final pre-checkride lesson, and about 25 NW of UCP. In
IMC, assigned heading 250 at 4000. I expected the next word would be

SnipThe causes of FAA's failures have been well documented
