3rd row in a 206 by
Shawn
A couple quick questions about the third row seats in a 206. In
pictures, the rear of the fuselage looks to taper down pretty quickly
aft of the trailing edge of the wing.
What kind of vertical and horizontal room is there in the 3rd row?
Are these just child seats, or could smaller adults sit in...

411 413 inspection question by
A Lieberman
Unpleasant surprise on my .411 .413 check.
Person doing the check would not certify the inspection. He said that the
VSI is not connected to the pitot static system.
I am the first to say I am clueless about "systems". He said I would have
to take it to a certified repair place to get it...

430 vs 480 (CNX80) rehashed by
N2SX
I know this has been discussed and discussed here, but I wanted to
share some information that I just received from the company that
produces a few excellent training computer programs for avionics.
Some background - I flew a cherokee 180 with a 430 for about 5 years.
This year I moved to a Lance...

486 vs GDL69a by
TF
Decision time. Do I go for a panel mounted GDL69a in my 77 Mooney (MX20)
for a big price tag. Or do I do the cheap and cheerful 486 portable route
? Seems on a cost basis that the 486 is the choice . Why wouldn't you ?
I like the integrated approach for the neatness factor. No wires...

500 Hour Engine -- What Needs to be Done? by
Jay Honeck
So we've reached 500 hours on our Lycoming O-540. All is well, and it
continues to run like a champ, using little oil. (Although we still have a
minor drip that's driving us nuts...) and pulling like a tractor.
So what needs to be looked at when 500 hours is reached? I know there's a
Service...

5100 more!? by
Jim Burns
http://www.avweb.com/eletter/archives/avflash/586-full.html#191678
I received my "good morning" this morning courtesy of Avweb. Lycoming has
decided that "they" should "retire" another 5100 crankshafts that were made
between 1997 and 2002.
While not an AD and not mandatory, the Service Bulletin...

530 Taws cost by
Dude
Does anyone else think the cost of a 530 with TAWS, or the $8,000 to add it,
is anywhere near reasonable? Perhaps someone could tell us what incredible
amount of programming, testing, processor improvement, or whatever this
takes.
I am thinking that this simply reflects more of Garmin getting too...

61 Cessna 210A 810 S/FReman by
Victor Bravo
I have just listed a friend's really nice 210 on ebay. The airplane
was maintained on a Part 135 certificate, owned and flown by an A&P-
IA / Airline Maintenance Inspector for a specialized medical transport
business. This is an excellent opportunity to get a no-problems, well-
maintained mid-time...

64 M20c Avionics Cover Sealing? by
BellSouth.net News
We are working on a 64 M20C Mark21, it does not have the "forward windshield
speed mod", still the factory design. There are two panels in front of the
windshield on the outside that cover the avionics assembly inside. They
have been sealed with silicone so many times that it took us 4 hours...

64 M20C Turn/Slip replacement by
BellSouth.net News
Looking for options to replace the original factory Turn/Slip in a 64 M20C.
It seems to have a volt meter in it. So is there any specific requirement
to replace it with a specific TC? Would prefer a TC as opposed to
Turn/Slip. If someone has done it and can point me to the...

74 Archer ignition switch question by
Mike Noel
My ignition switch occasionally locks up (with the key inserted) in the off
position when I try to start the engine. At first I thought it might be a
worn key and pulled out my spare figuring it would fix the problem. No such
luck. I have to fiddle with it to get it unstuck. The first time...

74 Archer Nav light switch by
Mike Noel
Any advice on how to change a nav light on/off switch. It's attached to the
roller knob that also controls the panel lights. I don't see any obvious
way to remove it from the front, and the back is not easy to get a look at
while lying next to the rudder pedals. I can get the lights to come on...
