1 Attachment(s) AOA indicator by Jonathan St. Cloud
Was just reading about the Aspen suite of avionics for GA http://www.flyingmag.com/way-to-aoa?src=PPC&dom=fb&con=Aspen-FB-Ads. Was wondering if Air-Avionics Butterfly, LX 90XX or similar modern glide computers would be capable of such algorithms to have a working AOA?

AOA indicator poll. by Luc Job
Hi! I have developed last year a solid-state AOA indicator, based on a differential pressure measurement (total pressure/pressure at angle) Undoubtedly, this is a primary flight instrument to me: -It shows where you are aerodynamically speaking, independently of all the variable parameters:...

AoA keep it going! by fred
In my early hours of being instructed, not one went by without stall and spin practice. They also taught me to look out of the window. Maybe I've done a thousand or more turns before I found myself in a spin that I did not intend to happen. I was in an HP11, over a ridge, with a 1-26 out climbing...

AOL dumps newsgroups by MikeYankee
Yesterday AOL flashed a message to all users clicking on newsgroups to the effect that it would no longer support newsgroups as of "early 2005" (see below). When I inquired about this, AOL said this new policy "was based on user feedback" -- yeah, like we've all been banging down AOL's door asking...

AOPA by Chris OCallaghan
Casey, The AOPA is a mixed blessing for glider pilots. It is by far the best aviation advocacy group (perhaps in the world), and they appear to provide beneficial services to individual members. But they advocate selectively. And glider pilots are so far down the list, it would be easier to...

AOPA Article by Kilo Charlie
The June issue of Pilot, the AOPA's magazine, has an article about the influence of GPS in sailplane racing. It features pictures and a story based upon the 2003 Standard Class Nationals at Montague (USA). It isn't long but is well written and great exposure for us in a powered pilot magazine. If...

AOPA ePilot Newsletter Story on SSA by 309
AOPA is paying attention...I hope SSA emerges from this chapter stronger. In my e-Pilot email Newsletter today from AOPA: SOARING SOCIETY FACES BUDGET CRUNCH OVER TAX ISSUES Calling it the "single most serious challenge" it has faced in its 75-year history, the Soaring Society of America (SSA) is...

AOPA Lobbies for Cellphones in Cockpits (USA) by Mike the Strike
http://www.aopa.org/whatsnew/newsitems/2005/050328cell.html The AOPA request points out that cellphones are a useful resource for aviation information and don't appear to affect general aviation instrumentation (presumably including those in gliders). No US cellphone service providers prohibits...
