Landout season has begun by
Tony[_5_]
First flight of the year in my Cherokee. I really really didn't mean to landout but sometimes it just happens. Oh well it was at a friends house although he wasn't home. He is supposed to be taking his first glider lesson tomorrow. I owe Leah Ice Cream. It must be getting close to...

Walt Rogers has written about using this model in a few posts. I have used the beta version with reasonable success, specifically the mid and high level cloud predictions.

AGC vs. ATC fuses in glider panels by
jfitch
Can anybody shed some light on why manufacturers continue to use glass (AGC) fuses rather than blade type plastic (ATC) fuses in gliders? Is there a certification issue, is it simply inertia? Automotive, marine, heavy equipment, and pretty much everyone else has moved on to the ATC style. From...

Accident Prevention by
Tom[_12_]
Accident Prevention
Flying gliders is dangerous. The “Accident Prevention Manual For
Glider Pilots” written in 1992 has been an important and effective
tool to train pilots to fly safer. The difficulty is getting pilots
to read the manual. The relatively light sales of this book, and the
fact...

GPS Visualizer update: Auto marker lists + more by

A few changes to GPS Visualizer lately which are worth announcing:
* Google Maps: a lot of changes here, although a few are under the hood
where most people won't notice them. The most notable is the ability
to have GPS Visualizer automatically generate a list of waypoints and

Trainer built in Florida? by
GM
Hi all in US-glider land!
I am just curious: what happened to the rebirth of the Polish Kr-03
trainer, which was supposed to be built by a company in Florida?
With the Euro growing stronger and stronger against the US$ and the
aging fleet of 2-33, I thought there would be a good market for this
US...

Cover it if 302 needle does not zero at power up. by
MaKoRide
Cover up the face.
The Cambridge 302 vario needle can fail to zero correctly at power up.
The instrument uses a light source and photo sensor to find the zero
position. If bright light overpowers the light source then the needle
can fail to position properly. Sometimes it goes around in circles...

GPS-NAV - IPAQ cabling quest by
Guy Byars
I want to use the serial cable attached to the docking cradle of my IPAQ
3800 to connect to the serial port on a GPS-NAV. Does anyone know the
pin -to- pin connection schematic for this cable? Or is it a plain null
cable?
