RNAV (GPS) Rwy 5 at KLHZ by
Dave Butler
FYI I've sent the following to NACO and to Jeppesen. I'm not asking the
NG for help, I'm just letting the NG know what I asked of NACO and Jepp.
Anyone is welcome to comment, of course.
Can you please help me reconcile the differences
between the NACO and Jeppesen manifestations of this
chart?...

RNAV approaches by
Kevin Chandler
I fly a couple of planes which have RNAV equipment installed. I feel very
comfortable using the equipment for the enroute portion of the flight. I
wanted to start flying some RNAV approaches. The closest airport with an
RNAV approach is Connersville, In (CEV). It is the new style RNAV...

RNAV Enroute CHarts by
John R. Copeland
Jeppesen plans to cancel their US RNAV Enroute Charts next year.
I've used those charts for nearly thirty years, and I'll miss them a =
lot.
They are usable at all altitudes, they aren't cluttered with airways,
and they are scaled at 20 nm and 30 nm per inch, which I greatly
prefer for my cockpit...

RNAV vectors by
Dan Luke
Anybody ever get vectors to final for RNAV approaches?
Around here (Mobile. AL), I never hear it, although there are plenty of
ARNAVs with lower minimums than the VOR approaches at both airports. If you
ask ATC for one of the ARNAVs, they'll clear you to an IAF every time.
Is there something...

RNP .3 Without GPS by
[email protected]
Most RNAV approaches have the notations:
"GPS or RNP - 0.3 required", and
"DME/DME RNP - 0.3 not authorized"
1. The "or RNP .3" seems to imply some navigation unit other than gps
can have rnp .3 Any idea what?
2. If an FMS with rnp .3 is able to conduct this approach, wouldn't
it need a gps...

If you're not registered to read NYTimes articles you may not be able to

article.
I'm not sure how frequently they would want to be using 13L at JFK and...

Room available for EAA by
[email protected]
We had someone from Kansas City who was going to stay with us during the EAA
Airventure, but changed his mind about coming. So now my wife and I are
happy to offer our spare bedroom in our house in northern Appleton,
Wisconsin, about 35 minutes from EAA in Oshkosh. It isn't much, just a
futon...

Route Planning by
Kevin Clarke
Question for folks who've done this a heck of a lot more than me.
How do you plan routes? I have a PA28-180/G that I fly. The navdata is
always kept up to date so I can always file /G. Which I suppose might be
the best answer here. But the vagaries of ATC, especially in the
Northeast US make me...

Route planning question by
Paul Tomblin
I'm planning to fly up to Oshawa Ontario next week (from Rochester, NY).
This will be my first flight there since I got my instrument rating. The
en-route chart shows an airway A21 going from the St. Catherines NDB to
Oshawa NDB. I have to confess that nothing I've read has ever said
anything...

value for everyone in the response, and maybe Roy wouldn't mind sharing with the
whole group.

Safe, Single-Pilot IFR generalities by
Greg Farris
Here are some "general" tips for safe, single-pilot IFR, gleaned from
Larry Bartlett's refresher course. These tips do not represent the "meat
and potatoes" of the video course, but are thrown in at a couple of
points as generalities. How many agree with these :
1) No Single-Pilot, single engine...

Safety pilot "flight time" by
kevmor
When logging safety pilot time, what do you put under the "duration of
flight" column? For example, say I'm flying with a friend who is
wearing a hood. We decided I'll be responsible for the flight before
hand. I can log PIC for the time the other person had the hood on, and
under the "total...
