Shop Labor Rates (here and there) by
Craig Prouse
In the SF Bay Area, I've become desensitized to shop labor rates in the
range of $90/hr. Plus or minus $5, this seems to be the going rate at PAO,
SQL, RHV, or SJC. That's after you finally get your plane in the shop,
which can take a day or two or seven.
I recently had a very favorable...

Comanche 260 - 1965 by
Sami Saydjari
I heard recently that a 1965 Comanche 260 is the fastest of the Comanche
260s (by about 5 nts). Can anyone confirm this? Does anyone have a
favorite year for Comanche 260s in terms of performance or capability?

lease back financing 5, 10, 20 years by
R.Hubbell
Calling all owners that leaseback a plane to a club or FBO or ??
I have found that financers offer different loans depending on
the who uses the plane. For a club they want 10 years or less
but for private they will finance up to 20 years. Maybe I just need
to keep looking. I don't quite...

High time or missing logs? by
[email protected]
Hey folks,
I'm trying to decide which is preferable, a relatively low time plane
with missing logs or a higher time of the same model with all logs.
The first is a 65-year old plane with 1800 ttaf and 346 tsmoh. It's
missing the airframe logs from 1986 and older.
The other has about 3000 ttaf...

check your tachometer by
Robert Scott
Several years ago I developed a software program to read engine RPM
based on the sound that the engine makes. I now have a new version of
this (free) software available which is much easier to use than the
old verison. It runs on any Pocket PC, or any Windows laptop. You
can use it to check the...

Beat up / worn out Arrow valuation by
Chuck
Hi everyone,
I thought I'd throw this out for discussion and see what comes from
some of the experienced people on the list.
I'm helping out some at a local school. The owner of the school is a
REAL penny pincher. He scrimps and saves anywhere he can. He'd reuse
oil if he could (he already...

WxWorx or Anywhere Wx by
Jon Kraus
We are contemplating adding a weather uplink system and was wondering
what experience you have had on the WxWorx or Anywhere Wx. We are
leading towards the Anywhere Wx but wanted to get some comments on both.
Thanks!!

Good first partnership or not? 1/6th Cherokee 140 Share in CA by
noah
Hi r.a.o guys,
Thru a local ad I found a 1/6th share in a 1969 Cherokee 140
(hershey bar wing). I've done some minimal due diligance on it and it
looks, well, like an old 1969 rental. The nose-wheel cowling is pretty
worn (looks like it's been glued several times) and the paint is
original & drab....

Place to post pix of our steeds...? by
Jay Honeck
Hey folks,
I've been sitting here thinking about our upcoming get together in OSH, and
I realized that not only don't we know what each other looks like, but --
worse! -- we don't know what each other's planes look like!
This seems to be a major failing of this newsgroup, if you ask me. I...

Remote power control by
Paul Tomblin
Last month in "GA News" there was a brief mention of a system that allowed
you to turn on a power plug by calling a pager or cell phone. I was
interested in it for controlling the Tanis heater on my plane, but a
friend at work was describing needing something similar for his cottage to
turn on the...

Tossing factory EGT, replacing with JPI or similar by
Ben Jackson
I understand that if I had a CHT, and it had a redline (I don't have one
at all, probably because the PA-24 doesn't have cowl flaps) I would need
to keep my CHT or get something certified to be a primary CHT.
Are there any rules regarding EGT? The one I have is pretty useless. It's
an analog...

Best price Aeroshell 10W-50W? Where to buy from? by
Paul Millner
P L E A S E get me a
stock number. If I can get that, my local Sam's might be able to
order it from distribution.
Sams in Concord, CA used to have 15-50, I know they have 100. I'll look
next time I'm over there, and write down the number.

In other words, the volume of the music audio has to

The audio output device needs a compression circuit to keep audio levels

have such a...
