Ground effect effectiveness by Tony
I haven't found a decent reference for this -- can anyone help? Consider a clean low speed airplane -- maybe one of the kit built ones. Does anyone have some quantitative measure of how much drag is reduced if the airplane is flown say half or quarter of a wingspan above the ocean? Would we be...

I fly on Mars by Tom-Alex Soorhull
I think Mars is better for flying around, because the air isn't so crowded there. There are so many ruthless plane-owners here on earth that flying is NO fun anymore.

Can a Grumman Goose use normal marine/auto gas? by togx
For purposes of a fiction novel I'm working on, I need to know if an old Grumman Goose could use fuel found at a marine refilling pier (mogas = auto gas, not diesel) instead of the usual avgas. It is only needed for one trip (not permanently) and hopefully not cause "major" damage to the P&W...

Where to find a salvaged flight deck by Todd Trainor
Where can I find a fairly complete flight deck from a large twin or small airliner? Before I make a proposal to buy something like this, I need to research the cost. We're planning to use it as a display and for educational purposes. If it is shorter than 13' tall we could build a trailer around...

737 rudder problems of the past by Todd Tomorrow
I'm gonna be taking 3 flights on Continental 737s around the country in the next week or so. I've flown on many 737s in the past, but was just curious on what finally was done about the rudder hardover problem. Most recent stuff I can find is from around 2000, when there was going to be some...

Lithuanian aircraft into UK / EU? by Tobias Rückerl
Is Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia included in a sort of open skies agreement with the EU? I wonder, if it is possible, that aircraft from these countrries are allowed to fly within the EU without 7th freedom permission ( i.e. flying passengers from Italy or Spain to the UK. Thanks a lot. Hans ( I...

Renter's Insurance - Questions & Advice by Tino
Several questions regarding Renter's Insurance: 1) Any personal experience with Avemco or AOPA? Especially filing a claim. 2) Realizing individual needs may vary, do you favor leaning towards more liability and less hull damage or otherwise? 3) Has anybody negotiated unique "riders" to any of...

Having had a blast at Airventure 2003, I'd like to go again. My dad had mentioned there might be chartered flights with lodging in some sorta package deal. I've scoured Sport Aviation and looked on the internet, but can't seem to find anything like it besides EAA chapter fly-together sorta...

Any real posts here? by TimeTraveller
I see that this forum has been usurped by that MI5 loon as well, too bad. Seems odd that he seems to be able to infest every google group with impunity. Anyway...is there any posting going on here at all, or has everyone moved to private message boards?
