USAF Fighter-Attack SPO members from the 1980s? by
R Haskin
Were any r.a.m. readers at Wright Patterson AFB in the early 1980s or
working in the USAF Fighter-Attack System Program Office? I'm looking for
anyone who may have worked there to discuss the Piper PA-48 Enforcer program
and the USAF's view of it from inside. I've heard plenty about it from...

Secondly, why wasn't the original JU-87 ever given retractable
undercarriage, it must have impinged on performance considerably?
Sure, it caused a lot of drag. I'd bet that it helped stabilized the
aircraft in...

XB-70 vs B-2 by

Would it have made more sense to have built the XB-70 instead of the

Dutch military cutbacks by
Ralph Savelsberg
Just in the news during the last few days: The Dutch minister of Defence
has announced (yet another) cutback.
The Air Force will loose 29 F-16s, leaving 108 in service. Twente air
base, which is one of three Dutch F-16 bases will be closed.
Six out of 30 virtually brand-new AH-64Ds are to be sold...

Blue Angels Show by
ramrod48
The Blue Angels are in St. Louis this weekend. Having seen several
shows in past years, I'm surprised that they've flown only the "low
show" here this year. Initially, I thought that perhaps the ceilings
were marginal, but yesterday's weather was perfect. The only reasons
I can think of: (a)...

Surgical hardware's impact on a USAF recruit? by

My gf has a kid who's an airplane nut. He just enrolled in JROTC in his
high school and is suddenly motivated about school. He had a broken arm
(skater d00d) that was repaired with the usual metal plates, which he
still has.
Should this impact his flight eligibility? She's got great...

PK of Igla vs. airliner? by

Little missile, big-ish airplane.
Countermeasures in the commercial fleet seems like an expensive
proposition. One or two "successful" attacks (losses, even) wouldn't
stop me from flying.

US kill loss ratio versus Russian pilots in Korean War? by
Rats
US F86 sabres shot down a lot of Mig 15s in the Korean War. The ratio was
around 8 - 1. I recently watched a documentary about the confrontation
between these two planes. Apparently they were quite evenly matched with the
F86 having a slight overall advantage. In the end the high ratio...
