New Planes from old companies by
Dude
Okay, its getting boring so, here is a new twist on an old subject.
Beech and Cessna have recently seen HUGE increases in demand for aircraft
with the G1000 cockpits. Will this cause them to rethink the introduction
of a new piston design to compete with the new players?
If so, how long till you...

What's going on here? by
Jay Honeck
Our JPI EDM-700 engine analyzer may have paid for itself today.
Here's the scenario:
Mary is PIC. During her run-up, the left mag dropped a bit more than the
right. She leaned it back (the usual fouled-plug procedure) and it smoothed
out to within specs. Still not as smooth at the right, but...

Insurance - don't believe the first broker you call by
Michael
I wound up inheriting a student. Older guy (in his 50's) who had
taken lessons on and off, and finally finished. Brand new private
pilot, well over 100 hours at checkride. And he went out and bought a
Bonanza. And not a little one, either - a 1970's A-36 six-seater.
His CFI at the local FBO...

this weekend we had the 50hr and 100hour AD's complied with. Fuel leak

Mooney M20 Preflight and Cowl by
Jon Kraus
Do you take the cowl off a 172 when you pre-flight it? I have never and
was never taught to do that. Besides the gaping hole in the m20c cowl
should allow you to peek at just about everything.

Doug
Anyone know how to search the web for AD's on an aircraft? On an
engine? On a propellor? How about service bulletins?

Continental IO-520A operating data? by
Michael
Does anyone out there have power setting and fuel flow data for a
Continental IO-520A engine? These were installed on some 1970's era
Bonanzas, and someone whose opinion I respect mentioned that the power
setting and fuel flow data in the aircraft POH were based more on
marketing requirements than...

C-182 carb-heat causing rough running. by
R.T.
Hello all, may be some one could help me out. I purchased a 1967 C-182 K
this summer with a Continental 470. When I pull out the carb the RPMs drop
considerably(200+rpm). I believe that it is creating a rich mixture as on a
run up I can get the rpms to come back up by leaning. I guess I'm just...

Aztec heater update by
Jim Burns
Just an update on what we've been finding with our Janitrol heater.
First, the spark plug isn't operating like it should. When we ground it to
the side of the heater, we don't get consistent or very strong spark. If we
take the spark plug off the lead and hold the lead 1/4 inch from the case,
it...

Just venting about my V35's annual/engine replacement by
Peter R.
If there were ever a day where I was feeling low about aircraft
ownership, today would certainly be a candidate.
My V35 is in the beginning stages of an engine replacement and annual.
The rebuilt engine has yet to arrive (probably another two weeks out)
but the mechanics were able to start the...

Lyc. O-360 cylinder question by
JB
I recently bought an O-360-A1D from a parted out Geronimo Apache to
use in my RV-8 project and have a question (or two) regarding its
background.
The engine was installed on the Apache in late '95 and has a new
Lycoming logbook, no previous logs included. Makes me think it's a
Lyc. factory reman...

Adding Aeroshell W100 to Aeroshell 15W50 in a Lycoming 0-360 by
Roy Page
I am running my Archer on Aeroshell 15W50.
The Lycoming 0-360 burns about a quart of oil every 12 hours.
I have a case of Aeroshell W100 and have no use for it and everybody at our
field uses a multigrade.
I was watching an Aeroshell video and was surprised that it implied that all
Aeroshell oils...
