Hangar construction question - Level Hangars? by
Al G[_1_]
Our City Council recently had some t-hangars built at KRBG. They were
built on a slope, I think 1.5%. The doors open real easily one way, and need
help going the other way. The floors aren't level, the walls aren't
vertical, albeit not by very much.
My question is: Doesn't this cause some...

Always something to be learned by
[email protected]
A very interesting article.

How could this error be trapped?
All you "owner produced parts" guys take note.
I wonder if this instance is what shut down the carb guys.

Aircraft purchase scam by

This sounds all very fishy to me.
I am not interested in proceeding with this transaction.

New Plane Owner by
Cary
It has been a while since I posted and viewed the rec.aviation groups.
I sold my 1958 C310 nearly 3 years ago and have been waiting for my
new plane to arrive. I am now the "proud" owner of a DA42 (Diamond
Twin Star) and I have a total of 6 hours in this plane. While I am
still learning what the...

Nothing to fly by
Viperdoc[_4_]
My "go someplace" plane is gone for a few weeks having some avionics
upgrades (should be nice when done).
However, the fun plane is sitting in the hangar without a prop- MT mandates
an overhaul/inspection every six years, regardless of hours. The local prop
shop picked it up and threw it on the...

C182 overhaul by
Chris
I co-own a Cessna 182J (1966) and we are close to TBO. I know, Google is
my friend but, I would like to ask about some personal
experience/recommendations (preferably with price-tag) on overhaul, new
engines or maybe even an upgrade. Also, I would like to have some
recommendation about mechanic...

Mooney Rocket by
Al
Is anyone interested in a Mooney Rocket? A friend here has one up for sale,
$150,000(us). The 325hp TSIO 520 has 405 hours, the airframe about 7000.
Extra tanks, spoilers, GM530 etc. I do believe it has a minor damage
history, gear up landings. (Yes, plural)

Purchase and Sale Agreement by
Dico
Hello,
Does anyone here have a sample purchase and sale agreement. We're in
the buying process and would like a standard form we can use so both
parties feel good.
Any links would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

IO-360 break-in and oil recommendations? by
[email protected]
Our normally-aspirated Arrow IV is currently in the shop getting a Lycoming
factory rebuilt ("zero time") IO-360-C1C6 installed. This is the first time
in my 2000 hr. flying career that I have ever had to deal with an engine
break-in, so I would welcome advice from the group.
Lycoming apparently...

FAA Inspector overstepping his authority (I think) by
Screwed
Hi everyone,
I've noticed there are some very knowledgable people on this list.
Maybe you can confirm / dispute some information.
A close friend is leasing his plane to a local school. The school has
had some maintenance documentation issues in the past. A local FSDO
inspector has been a real...

Garmin 430 VOR reception by
Maik
Hi!
I have a SL30 and a GNS 430 in my plane. They use the same antenna via a
splitter.
When I dial in the same VOR in both units the SL30 catches up the
radials always between 20 and 50 nautical miles earlier than the GNS
430! (Altitude about 3000 ft, flat area)
Is this normal?
What is your...

Choices... by
Brinks
I'm looking at two older Cessna 182's. Both are the same year, both have
roughly the same radios, both are in roughly the same condition, both are
asking about the same price, except for the following:
1) Plane A has a newly overhauled engine, some hail damage, and newer gyros
2) Plane B has...

Philadelphia by
dave
Laurent,
I'm based at Wings, LOM, just outside Philly. I waited almost a year to
get a hanger. It's not much of a hanger. Just a long building with no
doors and no walls between aircraft. I don't have to move any planes to
get my plane out and it keeps the sun and the rain off. For me,...

KT-76 low power? by
[email protected]
Hey all... finally got around to taking a trip in my plane this
weekend (busy with school stuff). The transponder appears to be weak and
the controllers were none-too-pleased without seeing a squawk, IFR,
running next to a TFR... :) They had a tough time receiving my squawk,
especially when far...

RPM drop and "popping" sound on mag check, C-172 by
C Kingsbury
Hi there,
Googling past threads yielded nothing definitive so here goes:
On runup today, noted the following:
1. RPM to 1700, switched to right mag, dropped ~150 rpm
2. Increased RPM to 2000, leaned back until I got a 100rpm drop and
held for one minute to clear it. We've had to do this pretty...

Decalin instead of TCP? by
Bob Fry
With the demise of 80/87 avgas, I bought a gallon of TCP and will
start adding that to the 100LL that I must now buy.
However, scouting around the internet I found something that claims to
be similar in function but safer: decalin. Here's a blurb from
Aircraft Spruce. My questions are, has...

Frances refugees by
Dan Luke
At least a dozen aircraft from Florida were parked on the north ramp at
BFM this afternoon. I didn't meet any of the pilots, so I couldn't ask
why they would flee a hurricane yet park at a coastal airport on the
edge of the projected path of the storm.
I realize that the storm probably will be...
