Cambidge 302 display polarization by
JC
Hi folks,
This weekend I flew a task with a borrowed 302.We are planning to
upgrade the panel and it was a good oportunity to try it out. It was
the first time I used one and I liked it but the display blacks out
with my polarized sunglasses and the only way to read it was lifting
them or tilting...

Komet trailer axle dillema by
Echo
So I'm headed to Moariarty from TN with my 20 in tow in June. I have an older komet trailer, for which I had just gotten new tires, which I have yet to put on. I took the trailer to a shop locally to have the surge breaks adjusted, tires put on, and bearings repacked. After about an hour they...

FAA written exam for gliders by
John Foster
I'm about to start flying lessons, and have read through the FAA-published text on glider flying. I have been advised to get the written exam out of the way before lessons, so I can focus on the flying aspect. I have been going through practice questions online, but there are many questions that...

Hod Taylor by
[email protected]
I just received word a couple of days ago that Hod Taylor passed on August 19, one day shy of his 97th birthday. Hod was a fixture around the old Black Forest Glider Port for many years until it closed, then became a permanent resident of the operations at Minden. I would like to gather some...

Dry vs. wet sanding by
[email protected]
Is there any reason that PPG concept can't be sanded dry? I need to knock down some bad orange peel (because I'm still learning how to paint). I was thinking about using some 500 to knock down most of the orange peel, and then move to finer grits (wet) take out the sanding scratches before...

water ballast by
6PK
Ok, I understand the theory behind the use or need of ballasting, specially into a headwind.
A recent discussion debated the need or rather the "no need" for any ballast for a down wind run.
Would like opinions; pros or con please?

What can a PDA do for me? by
BJen
I've got a late '80's model flight computer with an
integrated non-GPS final glide calculator and an IGC GPS
logger. I'm thinking about upgrade options to minimize the
mental workload for these items that I currently have
trouble with:
What's the current wind speed and direction?
What altitude...

BGA Instructor Requirements by
126Driver
The BGA instructor qualifications require candidates to have cross
country gliding experience. Is the Silver C satisfactory for all
instructor levels, or do some require more testing cross country
experience.
Instructors in the USA are not required to have any cross country
training or experience....

Greetings,
Looking for some real world data on what the max altitude that a Duo T

performance people have seen at lower altitudes. I know it'll climb to
6500ft MSL and average around 150 FPM, but hoping to get more data...

First of all, you need transflective screens, that is, with a frontlight.
The Sharp Zaurus series have these screens, and it is said that the screen
