VINTAGE GLIDERS by
Vorsanger1
For what it's worth, the March 2005 issue of Smithsonian Air & Space magazine
has an extensive article "Vintage Charmers" on the annual meet of the Vintage
Sailplane Association. Great pictures, too...
Cheers, Charles

Vintage Home Gliding Movie(s) by
Bob
One of our Texas Soaring Association (TSA) members, Dave White,
discovered a VHS tape in a dusty old drawer at TSA made by June Wiberg
who compiled and narrated all of her old glider days home movies from
the 40's to the early 60's and sent it to TSA. June was the wife of
Wally Wiberg, who owned a...

Vintage Pfieffer trailers? by
[email protected]
To anyone whom can help,
I just acquired a DG101g a few weeks ago, and when the a-hole left, he did not give me the keys. When asked he said he put them in the front of the trailer, but nothing there, and claims they are not in his pockets.
So after looking at the glider, I closed the back door...

vintage powered glider by
Chip Starr
Can anyone out there give me an idea of what a vintage powered sailplane is
worth? It is a Hawk model 3 1963 powered sailplane. In great condition,
with all log books, missing gauges.
Thanks,
Chip

Vintage sailplane geeks... by
[email protected]
I have a very good condition volume of the 1963 edition "the worlds
sailplanes" which is written in English, German and French.
As an added bonus it has an SSA pamphlet from the same vintage in
perfect condition as a book mark.
You cannot buy this in stores.... Thinking $100 OBO for it.
Email...

Vintage Sailplane spread in Ait & Space Magazine. by
Vaughn
Don't miss the article "Vintage Charmers" in the current Air & Space magazine.
The article is based on the Vintage Sailplane Assn. rally in Tehachapi. Nice
photography.
My issue came in today's mail.

Vintage stuff. by
Bruce
For what it is worth.
We have just completed the major work of refurbishing our club's 1956 Scheibe
Bergfalke II/55.
We returned her to the hangar resplendent in new red and white fabric and dope
and with a lot of repairs...
So - for those in the northern hemisphere who have the time to look. It...

Vinyl Numbers by
[email protected]
For years I've prepped the area by buffing to remove wax and contaminants, then centered the numbers and started in the middle. Just to find numerous bubbles trapped under the Vinal........Ugh!!! This morning I buffed the area to apply new COBRA decal to a trailer, wiped the area with a towel and...

vinyl trim source by
Brad[_2_]
I am rebuilding/repairing my Schroeder type fiberglass top tube
trailer and need to remove the vinyl trim and the aluminum channel
that it slides into. Does anyone have know where this stuff is
available? I've googled it up, but so far have not been successful.
Could be that I am using the wrong...

vinyl wrap by
[email protected]
Greetings all, I was wondering if anyone here has any information or experience with vinyl wraps for wings, control surfaces, fuselage on sailplanes, It seems that this product would be pretty easy to use on ailerons, elevators and rudders and would be insignificant weight gains. Iknow that it is...

Virga, rain, cloudsuck - how close do you get? by
ProfJ
Typing this with my fireproof suit on...last weekend I tried to duck between two rainy cumulus clouds on my glide back to home base. As I went through the gap it became filled with virga and I was sucked rapidly upwards, probably would have been about 10m/s if I had not had the nose well down. ...

Virgin Galactic by
AS
Virgin Galactic successfully completed another test flight. Out of curiosity, I looked up the reg.-number N202VG of the space plane. Turns out that it is registered as an Experimental Glider - without an engine! So that massive rocket sticking out the back is not an engine? Hmmm... the...

Virtual ELT by

This seems a far better idea than built-in 121.5 MHz ELT's.

I wonder if it could work in the USA.

Virtual exploration with SeeYou by
John Galloway
All you SeeYou users have probably been doing this
already but just in case:
Lets say another SeeYou user with satellite raster
maps asks you what its like to fly from X site (which
preferably has a bit of terrain around it). Send him
the IGC file of your most relevant flight from there.
He runs...

Visit From A Great Guy by
Bob Youngblood
Yesterday I landed the Pawnee and noticed a guy standing next to a vehicle speaking with one of our tow pilots. The closer I got I could see that it was a spitting image of one of my late old friends. I could hardly hold back my comments, "you look exactly like your father", it was the son of E9,...
