Upper Surface Blowing (USB) by Charles Gray
I recall that USB was mentioned in several books of the 1980's, not simply for transport, but as a method of producing STOL close air support and bombing aircraft. While the russians had a transport, and I believe we also did, I haven't seen much more about USB, and nothign about applying it...

Seeking information about a Capt. Albert Skolnick who flew 105's and later F-4s by JGB
in USAF in Nam around '65-'66. Tall, thin, dark skin, black hair. Supposed to have done around 108 missions. Very good at hand-wrestling too among other things. Old high school buddy; lost contact after 1970. I knew he flew for Delta Air Lines sometime afterwards.

March/April 2004 Air Enthusiast Review by Dataview Publishing
Quick and Dirty Review: Air Enthusiast March/April 2004 I've always liked Air Enthusiast, as it usually covers a good selection of interesting topics in a very thorough manner. The March/April 2004 issue is no exception, and there are a number of noteworthy articles. *C-133: Nine page article...

401TFW/614TFS Lucky Devils in the Gulf War by MKopack
Nearly fifteen years ago, the 401TFW / 614TFS deployed from our home at Torrejon AB, Spain to Doha, Qatar for the Gulf War. The New York Times named us 'the Forgotten 1000' but we compiled 1303 sorties and 3.7 million pounds of ordinance delivered, in 42 days, by our pilots in our 24 F-16's. This...

Douglas Pitcairn, Luftwaffe Pilot by JDupre5762
I have recently learned about Douglas Pitcairn a Luftwaffe pilot who flew with the Condor Legion in Spain. The article didn't describe how someone with such an English sounding name ended up in Spain. At first I thought he might be an English volunteer for Franco but since the Condor Legion was...

wave of the future by Pu38
What many military experts constantly ask themselves is "How will battles be fought tommorow?" First off, what can be imroved? what needs improvement? A basic answer would be stealth, v/stol aircraft, but to make that a standard craft for a country would be too pricy, even for america. the common...

Aviation diesels and turbo's by George Ruch
"Calvin R. Walker" wrote: Yes, I think there is a future for diesels. My main (and probably only) concern is the weight of a diesel versus a standard light-fuel burning IC av-engine. When the weight of a diesel is comparable to a standard IC engine, then you'll have a...

The Commandant of the Marines said today, that his troops "will not be able to enter Fallujah, Iraq for years." Singapores competition by John Cook
(From Western Daily Press) The Chairman of UKIP Exeter chooses to attack the Eurofighter, or Typhoon as it is called in RAF service, not because it is a bad, expensive warplane but because it is a way of attacking European co-operation (WMN, August 24). There have been problems with the...

Pearl Harbor Defense by Dave
