530W wind computation by
bsalai
On a recent flight from KROC to KUUU (Newport RI), a great place to
visit by the way, another guy from our club and I tried to use the wind
computation function on our recently upgraded 530W. We could enter the
data easily enough, but it didn't do the calculation. It just shows 0
kts at 000...

747 Lawnmower ?..............Yes, this is real, a flying Lawnmower by
Hansi
If you up there in the Cockpit, look out of the window and see an
Lawnmower, don't be alerted, you are not crazy. They now have flying
Lawnmowers. The same group of Hobby-ingenieurs also developed a flying
doghouse and working on a flying Washmachine and a flying...

800 number for void time? by
paul kgyy
I've heard some discussion that there is a national number to call for
a void time on filed IFR flight plans.
True? And if so, what's the number?

8710 for CFII by
Steven Barnes
I hate to admit it, but I'm not sure which boxes to check on the 8710 for my
upcoming CFII checkride. *My* CFI is away for a couple days & I just wanted
to get the IACRA app filled out ahead of time.
For the initial ride, I checked Airplane Single Engine, Flight Instructor &
"Initial". Would this...

9/11 ATC operations by
Everett M. Greene
I asked a question of this newsgroup a year or more ago about
the 9/11 hijackings' impact on ATC personnel. Somebody gave
a wise ass answer that this was classified.
It now has been "declassified" and the Discovery Channel
had a program about the very subject. The program answered
my question...

A couple of questions about IPC by
Paul Tomblin
I've only done one approach in the last 6 months. I've let my currency
lapse, so as I read the regs I now have to do an IPC, right? What does an
IPC consist of? Just 6 approaches and a hold, or is there more to it?
Can it be fewer than 6 approaches?

A disturbing statistic by
Dane Spearing
I've had many non-pilot friends and co-workers ask, "Is flying a small plane
more or less dangerous than driving a car?", to which my response has always
been "It depends on who is piloting the plane." However, in order to get
a firmer answer from a statistical standpoint on this question, I...

A gaggle of questions about traning from an old geezer... by
SimGuy
Hello everyone,
After gaining by ticket in 1993 at KOAK my logbook was moth-balled and
I haven't flown again until last month. After regaining currency I
would like to try and ascend through the tiers and maybe, one day,
hold a Commercial License with Instrument rating. I currently have 85
hours...

A Jet Blue Aircraft Landing with Sideway Landing-Gear by
Hansi
This is great footage from the landing of a Jet-Airplane by JET BLUE
with Landing-Gear Problems. The Landing-Gear is positioned sideways. It
is amazing to me what this tires and axles can withstand without
falling apart and the pilot is doing a great job too...

A little fun from France (approach procedure) by
G Farris
We're always complaining about the subtleties of this or that procedure, so I
thought I'd throw in this one from Corsica. I particularly like the missed
approach - in IMC at night.
