F-6F Hellcat Model Aircraft by
[email protected]
The Grumman F6F Hellcat was a fighter aircraft. It was tagged as the
Wildcat's big brother as it was the descended from the earlier F4F
Wildcat. It proved to be the most successful aircraft in the naval
history.
Warplanes.com offers the model F6F Hellcat aircraft flown by David
McCampbell. It was...

hand-propping a 172SP by
Tom[_5_]
Hey guys,
I tried hand-propping a 172SP yesterday, without success. I don't have
experience of hand-propping (I was at the controls), but the guy
throwing the prop did.
I understand that it's tricky with a fuel-injected engine (which the
172SP has). Anyone have any tips on how to do it?

Teaching Incremental Flaps in the Pattern by
[email protected]
I just read an interesting argument by Lew Gauge in his E-185 Bonanza
book.
Some background -- the older Bonanzas (straight 35) have a "Flap"
switch. There's no increments unless you stop the motor as the flaps
are being dropped. Apparently it's hard on that design to start-stop
the motor.
Lew...

It appears Al G has finished uploading his scans of the 1945 CARs to my
picture gallery. I hadn't noticed because the permissions were wrong -
I've now set them so anybody can see them. You can see them at

Note that there is a pull down menu at the top right...

Strange vehicle hanging out near runway by
Robert M. Gary
I went for a quick flight yesterday evening and I notice a couple of
guys hanging out near the end of the runway. This is a pretty quiet
airport so people around are noticable. At first I thought they were
watching someone solo. However, as I taxied by them I noticed that
they were in a John Deere...

A question for any helicopter pilots here by
Ricky
Here's perhaps a strange question;
Do helicopters have lower IFR minimums than fixed-wing aircraft?
It seems like IFR would be a cinch in a chopper because if you got
confused or the flying got difficult one could just slow down, stop,
hover, think about it and then continue once the pilot...
