Early season Sierra Wave flight by
[email protected]
Reading about the ridge flight in Utah reminded me that I should post
some details of the wave flight that I had on the 23rd of Sept. I fly
with the Sierra Soaring Club out of Inyokern CA. Friday I was
scheduled to take a family friend for a ride. He is a 17 year old who
is interested in flying...

Sid
This completely ignores the desires/requirements for efficiency, cost
and cycle time, but has anyone out there ever towed a glider with a
helicopter?

Seeking canopy covers for V2C by
[email protected]
I'm looking for an "express" or "sock" style canopy cover for my V2C,
for use when I'm gridded in the desert sun. (I don't even know if they
exist, as there may be an issue with closing the canopy over a layer of
material.) This cover is more intended for sun screen than canopy
protection.
I'm...

Installing an ELT antenna. by
[email protected]
Any advice out there re the preferred location for an ELT antenna in a
Ventus 2 ? With a Carbon fiber fuselage its not obvious to me the best
place to install the antenna ( Ameriking supplied - about 20 inches
long ) The factory suggests "under the canopy" , but to me I can't see
how to do that...

Martin Gregorie
As most of you'll know by now, these useful reviews have been
recently restricted to SAA members only. However, I've found a way round:
the site is archived by the Internet Archive
http://web.archive.org
and is easily accessed from there. Just use this...

Gauteng Regional Championships 2005 by
[email protected]
The first few days seem to have been beset by rather nasty winds.
Annie Kienhofer reports ......
"26.9.05
Practice on Saturday was a windy affair but flyable for the Brave.
2T ventured out the furthest, got to almost 15 000 ft, where his GPS
told him "wind speed was 45 knots".
Yesterday a task was...

For Sale - Cambridge 302 for Motorglider - Used by
Paul Remde
Hi,
A customer in the USA has asked me to help him sell his Cambridge 302
speed-to-fly variometer/GPS flight recorder. The model number is
CAF-302E-ENL. The "E" stands for English units (knots) and the "ENL" stands
for engine noise level (motorglider). It was purchased as new in February
of...

Electronic versus Pneumatic compensation (conclusions) by
[email protected]
Well, I think the jury has some verdicts in this trial.
Background: I recently bought a V2C with an existing Sage CV vario, and
had a new LX7000 and C-302 installed. The Sage installation was not
modified and I assumed it was connected to the TE probe somehow, even
though the lower ("S") connector...

New Diamond? by
Nyal Williams
I've heard talk of a new diamond's being proposed by
IGC or some such body. Mention was made of a 4th diamond
for a 750km flight to stand between the 500km and the
1000km diploma.
If true, this would pave the way for a fifth diamond
for a goal flight of 750km.
Who knows details about this?

Shooing hangar sparrows by
[email protected]
So I've got this big new glider hangar with a 60 foot door opening, and
while I like birds (in this case sparrows / fly-catchers), my Yorkie
dog goes nuts when they are in "her hangar". They don't nest but
occasionally poop, being birds after all.
Any suggestions on how to humanely repel /...
