credibiltiy by
Stu Fields
It seems that if there are two possible causes for a helicopter accident,
the preferred one for the manufacturer is the one for which they have no
fault. That certainly is the best for them. However, lets say that a low
hour helicopter suffers a failure directly attibutable to fatigue. ...

Gyro PRECESSION by
[email protected]
I've been reading up on gyro precession as it refers to gyroplanes. It
seems that is not how a rotor disc works on a gyroplane. The info I've
found so far states that: a two blade rotor system doesn't tilt by
precession, but that it's entirely aerodynamic and uses vane (pitch?).
How does gyro...

I remain extremely skeptical that the thing flys until I see a picture

Helicopter trailer by
Stuart & Kathryn Fields
Is there anyone out there? I have been dissatisfied with my trailer that
I'm using to haul my 1,000 # helicopter around. It is basically a car
hauler that I've stripped the springs down to 1 1/2 leaves and put soft car
tires on it to make the ride a bit softer. Even with the reduced springs,...

static thrust in pounds produced by tail rotor???????? by
[email protected]
Hi
I need a perspective so this is a general question . If a 6 foot dia.
tail rotor is turning 2500 rpm how many pounds of static thrust at a
particular pitch angle would be produced???? And is that for a flat
rotor blade meaning no helical twist. Any senario close to the above
would be a big help....

Helicopters and Wires by
[email protected]
Anyone else besides me here ever hit a wire in a helicopter? I did it
at night while crop dusting in California. Was a steel cable and all it
did was leave "chatter" marks in the paint and tore the end cap. Very
close call and we had to replace the blades (which were just about
timed out anyway).
I...

Helicopter futures by
Robert M. Gary
My neighbor is training with Silver State helicopters in Sacramento.
They claim there are helos sitting around with no one to fly them and
that pay can be expected in the $100,000 area. Our local DE thinks they
are crooks but I think he just thinks that because they do their
checkrides out of town...

Off topic question - Are you receiving viruses? by
Mike Williams
I am presently being bombed by viruses that are under the guise of a
Microsoft upgrade.
There's a discussion on alt.comp.viruses, they have a theory that it seems
to be targeting people that post on newsgroups. The reason I ask this
question on rec.aviation.rotorcraft is this is the only place I've...

Ultrasport kit helicopter by
vince
I was hoping that I could get some advice on the Ultrasport Kit
helicopter, in particular on REAL build times for the 331 and 496??. I
have been told that the Rotorway is approximately 800-1000 hours, and
that the ultrasport is far quicker at about 300 hours. I am from the
UK, and there are no...

Seating Arrangements by
Tim
On another forum, the question has been raised as to why the pilot in a heli
usually sits on the right (excepting tandem cockpit arrangements,
obviously!), when in a fixed wing aircraft the PIC sits on the left. Does
anyone here know the definitive answer? In fact, IS there a definitive
answer, or...

Ohhhhhh Micbloo by
Shiver Me Timbers
So are the sounds of rotors keeping you awake this week.
Spotlights lighting up your bedroom at 3 AM.
Subway traffic disrupted for you and the family.
Radio traffic blasting from your scanner's speaker.
Are you feeling a deep rooted urge to vote in the next few months.

Could this work for a small helicopter, like the kind BJ Schramm was marketing?
