Interesting ELT fact by
Ben Jackson
I just discovered that my ELT (Pointer Model 3000-10) has a microphone
jack on it. Of course, in any accident where I would be able to take
advantage of that I probably would have checked the ELT for proper
operation and discovered it. Still, it's a good thing to be aware of.
I'm surprised I'd...

AOPA Credit Card scam by
George Patterson
AOPA warns that someone is trying the scam of spamming pilots saying that MBNA
needs for them to verify their account info. These mails are not from MBNA. Do
not click on the link.
This, by the way, is true of every similar scam. No legitimate company will send
you mail asking for account info by...

(insert full disclosure comment here) I have nothing to do nor do not
attest to the quality, accuracy... blah blah blah of the above site or
their products. I just saw it posted.

Ping Hilton by
Steve Foley
Hilton,
I'd like to apologize for my 'troll' response. I have been reading the TSA
BS about the 'GA Threat', aliens being denied flight training, and the rest
of the BS going on, and then I saw your post.
I replied too quickly without thinking , and am sorry if I offended you.

Any recommendations or suggestions about where one can get checked out
in a 172 anywhere in the Kalamazoo, Battle Creek, Lansing, or Grand
Rapids areas of Michigan. I'll be five days there this July and want to
take some family members sightseeing.

Pilot Site Feedback by
[email protected]
We would like your help. The Alpha Pilot Site has just been

and an entirely new look. I think that I am too involved in the design
to evaluate it objectively. If some of you would look it over and give

No spin training in the US? by
Mark Morissette
What's eveyrones opinion regarding the lack of spin traning for
students in the US? I see that there was a thread about this from an
instructor viewpoint a while back, but not necessarilly from the
student viewpoint.
Personally, there was only two lessons that I didn't look forward to -

Would you go? by
Dan Luke
You have to take off at dawn to pick up an Angel Flight patient 200
miles away, so you call the FBO the night before to have the airplane
pulled out and fueled.
When you arrive at the airport, you find the fuel truck parked in front
of the airplane, blocking it. The FBO is locked up and no one's...

L52 by
Javier Henderson
Has anyone here flown to L52 lately? I noticed that their website,
www.aircamp.com, is offline.
I'm thinking about camping there for a night or two soon, and I was
hoping to get some current feedback...
Thanks.

Barometer Setting in Europe question... by
Here in the US, the barometer setting used is either the local setting when below 18,000'
MSL or 29.92 when at or above 18,000' MSL. This is according to FAR 91.81.
My question is on understanding how this works in Europe (and other airspaces
besides the US). My current hazy knowledge is that the...

The Real Reason For Airlines' No Smoking Policy by
Larry Dighera
U.S. regulators proposed that airlines replace or modify
insulation on 1,600 BOEING CO. planes worldwide because the
material does not meet fire-proofing standards. Half the planes
covered by the Federal Aviation Administration airworthiness
directive are flown by domestic passenger and cargo...

Shear Pins for Propellors? by
Rich Lemert
Back when I was growing up on the farm, we used several powered
implements that received their power from the tractor through a power
take-off assembly. Somewhere on the device's power train, between the
PTO take-off and the "business end" of the apparatus, there was always
either a belt-drive or a...

High Blood Pressure by
Jay Honeck
Well, I'm officially old. After watching my blood pressure slowly climb
over the last three years (strangely, the years we've owned the hotel --
coincidence? :-), my doctor has decided that my ineffective weight loss
efforts aren't going to do the trick.
Here are the facts: BP is 155/85. ...
