Rebuilding to Experimental by
150flivver
On the AOPA board an individual is rebuilding a Bellanca Viking and
claims that as long as he can show he rebuilt 51% of the aircraft, he
can relicense it as a homebuilt experimental. Is this so? Seems like
all the basket cases that I've seen rebuilt from the ground up are
still certified as...

Fracturing Aluminum by
[email protected]
We're making propellers over on the Chugger's Group. Right now guys
are mostly gluing-up the blanks that will become propellers. One of
the things that needs doing is creating the TEMPLATES that will be
needed in the final stages.
The templates are in the Files archive, full scale, so all we...

Manufacturers And Training by
Gezellig
Reading one of the piloting web/video services and came across this
comment:
"Still; there remains the specter of trouble ahead... as most of the
better offerings at the USSAE (LSA aircraft) cost well over 100K... and
we're not sure that there is a sustainable market for aircraft in that
price...

Fie and phooey on RVG!!! Yea FAA!!! by
Bret Ludwig
http://www.vansairforce.net/rvator/1-2008-RVator.pdf
On reading this it's obviously a shot across the bow of the yuppie-
popular fast build kit industry. All I can say is, It's About Time and
You Damn Skippy this is needed and right.
RVG/Van's is essentially promoting, marketing and...

Pinckneyville flyin time again ... by
John Ousterhout[_2_]
I've added a link to Highflyer's official announcement to my Unofficial
Pinckneyville FAQ. http://www.ousterhout.net/pjy-faq.html
If I'm reading my webstats properly over 200 people have read the
Unofficial FAQ in the past few days. Unbelievable!

History question: homebuilt pushers by
[email protected]
I was just looking back through the EAA Modern Mechanix Flying and
Gilder Manuals. None of the aircraft depicted were pushers -- except
for the Wright Flyers and some early Curtiss. In poking around for
old flying boat designs, I've found lots of pushers.
Does anyone know of any home built...

Robert Loer
On a wooden Super Cub (Light Miniature Aircraft) is one strobe on top of the
rudder fin sufficient to make the FAA happy? Asking only about the strobe. I
know I need position, tail, etc.

I am working with plans circa 1963 that call out 7075 T6 1" angle.
Anyone know if it's still manufactured? Don't see it in ACS or Wicks.
Thanks,

VOR disparity by
Rich S.
I have a Collins VOR receiver and a connected Collins VOR/LOC display
installed in the Emeraude.
The receiver has an LED digital display for frequency or bearing. If I
select, say, "from" I will get a display of the bearing from the VOR
station. If I rotate the OBS on the panel VOR/LOC instrument...

Muzzleloader sample by
Rich S.
Hey Chuck. . .
Linda axed me to give you her regrets that she isn't coming with me to
Oshkosh this year. She also wondered if I could bring back a sample of
Muzzleloader so she could toast you in absentia. Shall I bring a specimen
cup? She said the berry is her favorite.

Oshkosh Bound Posters by
RST Engineering
The 2005 Oshkosh Bound documents are up on the website for download. There
are two zip files. One contains all the posters (camping, classic,
homebuilt, camping, etc) and the other contains a clean graphic of the
Ripon-Fisk-Oshkosh runway procedures.
Comments and error-reporting appreciated.

Trim tab location by
Jay
I've noticed that a lot of aircraft put trim tabs on the trailing
edges of the normal movable control surfaces. Wouldn't this just
deflect the control surface to neutralize the forces and not affect
much change except drag? It seems like you'd want to put the trim tab
on the fixed part of the...

FA EBAY: Evans Volksplane VP1 ( You won't find a nicer VP1) by
JR
There seems to be some jealousy and bitter bigots trying to bad mouth this
plane its ebay listing in addition to defaming me. This plane is priced to
sell and built professionally and has hundreds of hour flown off of it
safely. I refuse to have dialouge with any of these Keyboard Rangers...

FS : two Augusta gasoline engines by

Hello all,
These may be a bit heavy for an ultra-light, but I guess whoever has an
interest will know that better than I.
I have in my garage, two Augusta 42hp twin horizontal crankshaft and
cylinder gasoline engines in their factory crates. They were sold by
Augusta to the National Research...

We had a cold front pass through Friday evening here in New England,

the cool remaining on Sunday but the wind diminishing somewhat. Great
weather for sandblasting, I thought.
Did I ever mention how much I hate sandblasting? ...
