How to tell when approach plate updated? by kevmor
If an approach plate comes out, then it's NOTAM'ed for some changes, I make the changes to it. But then the next few cycles, those changes aren't implemented yet and are still NOTAM'ed. Instead of making the changes to each cycle again, can you tell by the Amendment # if it's been updated?

Logbook in Review by [email protected]
Just finished my first logbook and my first entry of my second logbook is today. It all started in 2001, hard to believe it's been seven years. I have compressed those seven SHORT years to 3 minutes, 1 second, a compilation of my accomplishments in the aviation...

King KSN770 & KFD840 by Mediaacom News
I've got a Seneca III, well equipped with King of that era. When they came out I added a KLN-90B. I understand that King announced the KSN770 & KFD840 last summer but looking at their web site and looking around on the internet doesn't yield much information. Anyone given any thought to...

IFR in a Mooney to Charlotte - Follow up by [email protected]
Quick follow up on my IFR to CLT in a Piston Single. Thanks to the group for the info - it was quite useful. Took the trip starting last Thursday - used CLT ATC's web site to time my arrival during a "slow" period. I did ask my local controller if they had any LOA's with CLT. I'm based in...

Garmin/Avidyne OBS weirdness by Ron Garret
I fly an SR22G2 with the Avidyne MFD. When I try to use the OBS mode on the Garmin 430 in VLOC mode it works fine -- the left knob on the MFD controls the OBS, it draws a nice purple line, and everything is hunky dory. But when I try to use OBS in GPS mode the MFD doesn't work. I can still...

WAAS GPS equipment suffix in a RNAV flight plan ? by jbskies
Question: I read the latest LTA (letter to airman, 2008/06/19) for the latest RNAV flight plan. In the last paragraph, it says "It is important to communicate your maximum RNAV capability so the filer can enter information which allows FAA automation to generate RNAV arrival and departure routes...

Does part 91 apply outside the USA? by Barry
Now let's take 91.175. The USA mandates the use of a published IAP. The UK does not. 91.1 says p91 does not apply outside the USA. Does this mean one can fly an unpublished IAP in the UK? I don't see anything in 91.1 saying that it does not apply outside the US. It says that it...

System Operation of Aircraft System by [email protected]
On most modern turbo charged engines, the position of the waste gate is governed by a pressure-sensing control mechanism coupled to an actuator. engine oil directed into or away from this actuator moves the waste gate position. On these systems, the actuator is automatically positioned to produce...

Northstar M3 & PC connection by [email protected]
Has anyone interfaced an M3 with a PC? I have a Motion LS-800 running Jeppview Flitedeck. I had succefully interfaced it with my previous aircraft that had a Trimble 2000 Approach. Trimble uses RS-232 w/ King aviation data format for its moving map output. I used an USB RS-232 coverter and...

How I run my shop in my ship video by [email protected]
Yesterday's IFR trip to Tunica. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ykh_3LmkRwE Video will give you a flaver of how I run my shop in my ship. Note, omissions in video lead to "technical errors" so view it as entertainment value only. I'd hate for somebody to gig me for not videoing setting flaps,...
