Using the magenta circles by
Ace Pilot
A friend recently asked me to explain the magenta circles seen around
numerous airports on sectionals. It got me to thinking about how
useful they are. Personally, if the weather isn't good enough to fly
VFR in Class E airspace, I'm not going to fly VFR, even if it is legal
in Class G airspace. So,...

Lifeguard flights: How to file a flight plan? by
Peter R.
Recently, I placed my name in a pool of pilots who volunteer for organ
transplant patient flights. Since there is a time deadline involved, am I
correct to assume that these flights are eligible to fly under the
"Lifeguard" callsign?
Does one have to file a flight plan under this callsign or does...

Suggestions for cockpit tablet PC by
Nathan Young
I am looking at purchasing a tablet PC to display WxWorx weather, and
would appreciate the advice of anyone who is doing this or looking
into it.
Criteria:
1. Must be tablet PC (don't want a laptop)
2. Must run WIN XP, don't want CE
3. Display size isn't critical (nor is resolution). Would...

in the air again! by
Cub Driver
After being closed for a month, and that preceded by a bad winter in
terms both of weather and personal fitness, I flew this morning for
the first time since January 17. Sunny, windy. The turf runway at 7B3
Hampton NH is badly eroded along the "centerline" but happily there is
plenty of room to...

What's a legit Russian Email Address? by
Jay Honeck
Okay, off-topic -- but I don't know whom else to ask!
I've recently received an email (for the inn) from a guy purportedly located
outside of Moscow.
I can't seem to reply to him. His address ends in "mail.ru" (as in
) My ISP rejects this as having an illegitimate...

Just got biannual checkup for my third class medical. A few months ago
I posted about getting my new airman's certificate number. The medical
form still has a field for the social security number (it's optional)
but no field for my new certificate number. I asked if this was the

SACRAMENTO - SAC or SMF by
Jeff
on the 9th we are flying into the Sacramento, California area, I havn't
made up my mind which airport to use, SAC or SMF.
Anyone here familiar with the area and is either better then the other
for GA ?
I am leaning towards SAC because of the cross runways and looks to be a
good GA airport.

Stearman for rent in Bay Area by
John Harper
Anyone know anywhere in or near the Bay Area that has a Stearman
for rent (not necessarily solo) just on an hourly basis (i.e. no joining
fee plus monthly fee like WVFC)? The place I fly acro out of
(Attitude at Livermore) has this approach to the finances, but despite
occasional threats of getting...

Heliocopter pilot as career change? by
NewsMonkey
Hello All,
I was hoping I might be able to get some feedback/advice from people who
have experience in the commercial aviation field. I am trying to make a
decision on whether pursuing a career, as a commercial helicopter pilot
is realistic.
First a little (I promise) bit of background. I am a 34...

Greetings All...
Returning to Sky Harbor yesterday (via commercial carrier) I noticed that
the ramp area and buildings at the west end of the field were abandond and
were surrounded by chain-link fencing.
I've read/heard that Sky Harbor in Phoenix is pretty GA "unfriendly" so I
guess they've...
