Mystery aircraft: Help needed by
Andreas Parsch
Hi,
a friend and I are unable to identify the WW2-era aircraft on this photo (no
caption or context available):
http://www.designation-systems.net/mystery.jpg
We think that the aircraft (obviously a glider) is connected to the U.S.
Navy's GLOMB ("Glider Bomb") program for remotely controlled...

"New" ASCC code names by
Andreas Parsch
Hi,
the following info was forwarded by a reader of "Aviation News" (Sept.
2003), which has an article about the ASCC code name system (sometimes
not quite correctly known as "NATO code names"). He said the article
mentioned the following recently assigned (or not so recently, but not
widely known...

How were Have Blue and Tacit Blue codenames chosen? by

Were the Have Blue and Tacit Blue codenames arbitrary constructions or
was there some sort of logic behind them?
The names (officially called "nicknames") are essentially arbitrary.
However, the first words ("Have" and "Tacit") are not completely
random, because the first two...

Dance on disbaled Bradleys and die! by
Andrew
This is beautiful. People come to celebrate the destruction
of a US military vehicle and they die. In my opinion, if you
dance around in jubilation at such a seen you are declaring
yourself to be an enemy and you invite incoming fire. This
applies to Arab 'journalists' who rush to the scene to...

Canadian Forces cast about for used Hercules airframes by
Andrew Chaplin
National Pest article at http://tinyurl.com/onwo.
How realistic is this plan, anyway? Are there any C-130 airframes out
there to be had? Or, like John Cleese in the Cheese Shop sketch, is this
an act of the purest optimism on the part of the procurement folks to
pose the question in the first...

Can anyone identify this plane please? by
Andrew Fergus
I think it is either a Hawker Hart or its variant, a Hawker Audax. If anyone can confirm once and for all I'd really appreciate it.
The gentleman standing with it is Bob Fergus, an RAF Fitter and my grandfather
