slow roll in a super decathlon by
Nobody
I'm curious to know how others do slow rolls in a Super D. I learned to do
them without rudder. I was told that for a full deflection slow roll, no
rudder is required. To me, they look fine. I draw the lolipop on the
horizon. It just seems odd that they don't require rudder.
Here's how I do...

Pitss S-1S related questions by
Sascha Schott
We are a group of three German aerobatic pilots seeking a Pitts S-1S,
preferably N-registered, with a 200 hp Lycoming.
Regarding the Pitts, we are beginners. As every plane has its typical
"teething troubles", we wish to get in contact with S-1S
owners/sellers/pilots who are willing to offer their...

My first lesson by
Marco Rispoli
Marco walks to the instructor and introduces himself. Marco is already out
of his mind with terror. Rationality left the premises a long time ago.
The instructor has fangs and horns and a red tail and smells of ozone and
sulfur. He snaps handcuffs on Marco and drags Marco kicking and...

B&C light weight alternator by
Al MacDonald
Greetings,
I'm considering installing a B&C light weight alternator, SD-8 (8amp and
2500 rpm) in my Pitts. Serious weight reduction from my old generator.....
My electrical system consists of an Icom A200 that draws practically nothing
and a fuel pump that is turned on for t/o, landing and...

Decathlon engine managment-> power off spins by
max
What's the best way to manage the engine during the recovery from a
power off spin into another maneuver in a plane like the Super Decatlon
with constant speed prop?
If I have the RPM set to 2400 before reducing power for the stall/spin,
need I worry about overspeeding the engine by adding the...

Writing an Aerobatic Training Course by
aussieman02
I'm looking for information or guidance writing a course of training
for aerobatic flight. I've written courses for Private, Instrument,
and Commercial 141 training, but am looking for assistance regarding
aerobatics. My goal with the course is introducing the basic
aerobatic maneuvers to...

electronic G meter by
dave
I'd like to install a g meter in my 7ECA. Does anyone have any experience
with the DA-55? I already have a power connection where it will be
installed from a non-functioning astro-tech clock. Hard to believe that
someone can make an LCD clock that doesn't work.
thank
Dave

All I Wanted For Christmas Were Inverted Spins by
[email protected]
After having two acro lessons cancelled last week due to winter weather
in the Northeast I had two lessons scheduled last Wednesday before
heading to Alabama for the holidays. It was a perfect day for flying,
but of course we had a dead mag so I went from two lessons to none.
But I had the...

Discovery Wings Channel ??? by
Jerry J. Wass
All Thumbs wrote:
Whatever happened to the EAA shows that were aired on Speedvision?
Was "Fom The Ground Up" shown on that channel? Seems like the EAA
could provide some programming. I always wanted a channel that would
just drive up and down the rows at Oshkosh, no commentary...

Calculating vertical time and distance in a stall turn (US Hammerhead) by
Dave
I've been teaching aerobatics for years but last weekend (after a session of
stall turns) a student said he was surprised at how long we were vertical.
Afterwards it occurred to me that it would be fun/interesting to look at the
sums, later I realised that I didn't know how to DO all the sums!!
If...

Manifold pressure gauge problem by
Dave Russell
The manifold pressure gauge in my Super D is a pain. More acurately,
it's the line that connects it to the engine. Ten minutes of
aerobatics, and I can't get any kind of reliable reading; it just
sticks wherever.
It's easy to fix. A shot of air into the line (back toward the
engine, of course)...

Fallen Angel Maneuver ? by
Arnie
A friend asked me what was this "Fallen angel" maneuver, but I've never hear
of it before.
If someone knows what it is, I'd appreciate a description.

Anyone know of schools or instructors around Ruston, LA? There is a

Woohoo! Flew the Pitts... by
John Harper
My first flight in a Pitts today (S2B). Now that was quite a flight! We did
all the usual stff, rolls, loops, some vertical stuff. Rolling was amazing.
It took me a while to get loops to come out OK, for some reason I kept
relaxing the stick after the initial pull and running out of energy....

Q: Upset Training Course Vs Basic Aerobatics? by
Jay Beckman
Hello,
I'm a newly minted PP-ASEL and I'm making a "wish list" of things that can
make me a better, safer pilot.
One of the things I'm very interested in is learning more about dealing with
unusual attitudes and recovering from same.
Would there be advantages to enrolling in a purpose-built...

Secondary Stall by
w3n-a
http://w3n-a.blogspot.com/2008/12/secondary-stall.html
This stall is called a secondary stall since it may occur after a
recovery from a preceding stall. It is caused by attempting to hasten
the completion of a stall recovery before the airplane has regained
sufficient flying speed. When this...
