Hours to install S-TEC?? by
Frode Berg
Hi!
Just a question if there are any mechanics here.
What would the normal install time be for an S-TEC system 20 one-axis
autopilot be into a 1968 Piper Arrow?
Presuming the directional gyro/heading bug is OK, and the NAV instruments
are up to it off course.
Just to have an idea.

best way into D.C. ? by
Guy Elden Jr.
Hi all...
I'm planning on flying down to D.C. from northern NJ in a couple of weeks,
and was wondering which airport down there is the best these days? I know
College Park is the most ideal, but unfortunately it's still not accessible
by transient aircraft. Basically, I need the closest airport...

another annoying commercial wannabe question... by
gatt
Thanks for your previous help, folks. I have, hopefully, one remaining
question.
At the age of 35, having resigned to a life of earthbound employment, I just
want to know this:
If I finish my instrument rating and complete my commercial, is it possible
to recover those training expenses flying...

Be A Pilot commercial by
CFLav8r
Does anyone else find the Be-A-Pilot commercial annoying?
The guy in the commercial seems to be more interested in showing us his
phony white teeth.
The fool keeps his upper lip up through the entire commercial so that his
teeth show the entire time.
Just my two cents worth...

Good Electrical shop in NorCal by
Robert M. Gary
I have a strange, intermittent charging problem in my Mooney and am
looking for a good electrical shop. I've changed out the alternator,
battery, regulator, field wire, alternator ground wire and several
other items and I'm still having a charging problem. I'm looking for a
shop that knows how to...

Another Philly fiasco by
Richard Russell
Well, as if the drunk Pottstown pilot busting Philly's Bravo wasn't
enough to thouroughly embarrass the local flying community, now we
have another incident. Last night, a local news chopper had to
perform evasive maneuvers to avoid a single engine plane that was,
according to the news report,...

Reality of Tie Down (Tiedown) Space at SNA by
Tie Town
There doesn't seem to be a lot of information available on the web
(first time for everything) with regard to tie down space in SoCal
(specifically SNA). What is the best way to go about this. I know
there is a waiting list as long as my arm (or longer). But I've also
been told that many people are...

Evening Transportation from Henderson to McCarran? by
Jeff Lundberg
I'm flying into Henderson (HND) on the evening of 5/21. I need to get
to McCarren to pick up a rental car from Hertz since the neighborhood
Hertz locations will be closed by then. Is there a shuttle that runs
from HND to LAS? I'm planning on calling a taxi, but always appreciate
a cheaper...

Overlapping class C & D by
Andrew Sarangan
The Dayton Class C airspace sits right next to the Wright-Patterson AFB
Class D airspace. A vector for the ILS approach often takes us over or
through the class D airspace. If we are VFR, I always verify with the
approach controller if we are ok to enter the class D. I have received
mixed answers...

Chopper 4 down in NYC by
Bob Chilcoat
Last night during the 6:00 news, I was watching the WABC news when Shannon
Sohn, the Newscopter 7 reporter suddenly came on, very shaken, and said that
Chopper 4, her counterpart on WNBC, had just gone down seconds earlier. She
was particularly upset because her husband is the morning reporter in...

Ft Lauderdale Crash by
SelwayKid
Funny no mention of the crash last saturday during an airshow
practice. TV coverage showed the low wing in an apparent spin right
into the water. Pilot was killed and no further details from the
program after that.
Anyone else know of it?

Blue and white Comanche/Arrow departing Sunriver Sunday? by
Ben Jackson
Hey, if you're the guy who took off on runway 18 in the light blue and
white Piper retractable at Sunriver, OR (S21) Sunday around noon, what
the hell was wrong with your engine? With the sputtering I half expected
not to see the plane pop up above the trees... And I was really surprised
you...

C-172 landing light switch by
JFLEISC
My '61 Cessna landing light switch has two positions; First notch is the taxi
light, and the last notch turns on the landing light but leaves on the taxi
light. Does anyone know of a legal replacement switch that separates the two
lights? (taxi light goes off on the last notch). The reason I ask is...

Full airplane cover? by
Robert M. Gary
A friend and I have talked about buying a fun plane in addition to our
Mooney. All the "fun" planes I've enjoyed flying have been fabric. One
of our requirements is no electrical system (just because the must fun
I've had flying is when the plane is simple). I used to fly a Cessna
140 and even that...

Today, he hopped a train down to my place in New Jersey. We procrastinated as long

the Hudson corridor, cut west over northern New...
