Colibri Failures. by
Stan Kochanowski
Martin,
I had a similar problem with my old GR1000.
This was due to (rechargable) internal battery failure
- which needed to be topped up regularly - every month
in practice.
The Colibri has a Lithium internal battery which 'will
need to be replaced after several years'.

Colibri Failures -public apology - new posting ! by
Stan Kochanowski
My sincere, humble and unreserved apologies to Mal.com....net.au
- and the rest of you - for my rude and unreasonable
response.
The penny had, in fact, dropped before Andrew W. pointed
it out - and I had posted an immediate apology - which
has not appeared.
Again, I unreservedly apologise to you...

Tow Costs by
Slick
What is everyone paying for a tow? At our club it's $17 to 2k and $22 to 3k.
We use a 260hp Pawnee and our club has no rental fees, only club dues.

Artificial Horizon testing by
Rory O'Conor
All
I have an RC Allen Attitude Indicator Model 26 (Artificial Horizon) fitted
in my glider for cloud flying.
It is powered by 14V from a stepped up 12V soaring battery. ie plenty of
power.
It has been levelled.
I am concerned about its current reliability when showing straight and level
flight.

Jumpy needle by
Ludovic Launer
Hi
I have a Winter vario, which is works OK, but I find the indication a little
jumpy...
The system is not leaking, but I'd just like to have slightly less "gust"
jumps and a smoother move of the needle.
In my ASW20 there used to be a restriction in the tubing and apparently it
did the job pretty...

Passing of Richard Miller by

RICHARD MILLER 1925-2004
Richard Miller became interested in soaring after WW II, eventually
becoming the editor for Soaring Magazine. In 1967 he published
"Without Visible Means of Support" which inspired many to consider
new forms of flight.
Although not the first to foot launch a Rogallo...

New 7 part personal soaring movie in Utah by
Bruno
I am amazed that more people don't film their flights and share them
with others. Yes, it leaves you open to criticism - I know my yaw
string isn't straight a lot of the time. If people had any idea what
we experience up there, we'd have quite a few more friends soaring with
us.
The links to the...

200Hp SuperCub by
Roy
Thanks for the feedback on towplanes.
We already have a 180Hp Supercub and the 200HP version sounds
interesting.
Anybody got more info on the 200HP STC?
Reason for the high rate of climb is due to large warehouse building
newly constructed at the edge of the climbout fan. Extra hight would
make...

On hydration by
Ted Wagner
This observation motivated by the recent discussion on hydration.
Just under a year ago I started my x/c career in Arizona, flying at Estrella
and Turf. Needless to say these are not cool places in the summer. When the
weather turned hot (which was in mid-April last year) I followed...
