Rules Question... by
Gary Emerson
I have a question about trying to combine two objectives into a single
flight.
If there is a State record in the category of "flight to a goal" which
can be obtained with a flight of say 280km can I declare my start and my
goal and then after my arrival at the goal continue my flight to an
airport...

Photo to use on Convention Poster by
[email protected]
All:
I need a photo of a tight, well-populated gaggle to use on a poster for
the Glider Pilot Self-Assessment Project at the convention. It would
need to make a reasonable 8x10. Of course I've left it to the last
minute ....
Can anyone help?
Thanks,

LX Nav products and SeeYou by
[email protected]
I've sent the factory an e-mail with this question, but I wanted to
poll the world of LX5000 users at large, how many of you have firmware
version 11 or greater, and for those of you raising your hand, how many
have had difficulty uploading turnpoints to the LX5000 from LXe (the PC
software)?

Navman PiN Pocket PC for glider usage by

This is my initial evaluation of the Navman PiN for use in
a glider as an integrated flight computer system. The reason
for this evaluation is my desire to find a self contained flight
computer for the SparrowHawk I have on order. By self contained
I mean with an internal battery suitable for...

SZD-55 by
Armando Pucci
Jantar Standard 2 or 3 are more popular to beginners,
a good choice to learn cross country, and still competitive
on club class.
SZD-55-1 is a evolution project, light and easy to
assemble, self connections controls, easy to fly, good
and honest characteristics, if you set the C&G correctly
and...

Tires again (but this time on the tow vehicle) by
Papa3
I recently replaced the Original Equipment Michelin MXV4 H-rated tires on my
VW Passat 4 motion wagon (Variant for those of you in Europe) with Dunlop SP
40 A/S all weather radials. Other than lacking a speed rating, they are the
same dimensions as the originals. Although the new tires are...

1-26 Dimension Needed by
Mark Zivley
The trailer configuration for our club's 1-26 uses a steel tube that is
passed through the aft wing attach recepticals. This tube keeps the
fuse stable on the trailer. Anyone know off hand what the largest "off
the shelf" diameter tubing will go through that aft wing pass through?
No, I wasn't...

Cenfis by
Guy Corbett
A friend, who is not an internet user, owns a Cenfis
flight computer. He has sent it to the manufacturer
in Germany for upgrade and now cannot get in touch
with them. He has no answers to telephone message
or emails for several weeks.
Does anyone know if this company is still in business?

Software to track club operations by
John G. Harte
Help! Advice sought on software to track club operations. Hopefully such
software would be amenable to on field usage, track usage for billing,
maintenance, squawk reporting and other things those much more clever than
me can think of .

Maps of gliding clubs (specifically near Chicago) by
Robert Sharpe
Hi,
The British Gliding Association has a list of their clubs displayed on
a map (at http://www.gliding.co.uk/findaclub/ukmap.htm).
Does anyone know of similar maps for other countries ?
It took me a long time to find gliding clubs in Poland and then it was
difficult to determine how far they...

Suggested reading for the aspiring XC pilot by
Doug Snyder
Spring is coming and I hope to begin making XC flights soon. I am a low
time pilot flying in the (US) Southeast. I have essentially zero XC
experience. My local club is very supportive of XC flight and I expect
to have the from both instructors and mentors.
I'd like some recommendations on good...

It's Bug Racing Time (US) by

Light wind, 45=B0F max temperature, TOL 2000AGL at best
I know only 3 glider pilots crazy enough to take the time to learn to
reproject images for bug races. So with the others in mind I keep a
lookout for free, lat long grid images with known corner...

Gliders in China by
glider rider
Does anyone know if there is a glider community in China?
With the exchange rate of the Euro, I wonder if a proven design
could be produced in China. Even if ships were hand produced
the labor rate would be very low.

Looking for a towable tow vehicle by
[email protected]
My crew and I are purchasing a motorhome soon, and at the same time,
replacing her Toyota pickup with a more economical sedan. I'd like to
get one that's light enough to tow behind the motorhome on winter
trips, but heavy enough to tow the glider when the need arises. Iow a
towable tow...

New Word 'SOARING' by
Ray Lovinggood
I just received my Feb 2005 issue of 'SOARING' today
and noticed a new word I'll have to add to my vocabulary.
It can be found on page 22, in the caption next to
the photo of the 2-33. The caption reads,
'The author's buyfriend at moment of touchdown.'
How right that word can be, for either a...
