anyone ever met Burt Rutan? by jim
Was watching a video on the minivan that Bert designed and shot into space. He seems like a interesting person but I can't believe he is that laided back when designing planes and minvans that fly into outer space, is he a dick or a cool dude?

High Blood Pressure -- Part II by Jay Honeck
As some of you know, six weeks ago I was diagnosed with high blood pressure, and was prescribed medication. Although the medicine the doc gave me WAS on the FAA's list of "approved" drugs, the mere act of taking such a drug would set into motion all sorts of things regarding obtaining future...

Information on Ditching by Dylan Smith
With the recent thread on the unfortunate man who ran out of fuel and ditched in Lake Michigan, I've looked for the CAA's ditching advice online. It can be found he http://www.caa.co.uk/application.aspx?categoryid=33&pagetype=65&applicationid=11&mode=detail&id=1175 Contains lots of good...

Banner Towing by Scott Schluer
Are there any requirements (for either the pilot or the aircraft) for towing a banner (specifically using a late model C172S)? I'm a private pilot with about 145 hours TT and no banner towing experience. The only reason I ask is that my fiance and I are planning on getting married in Sedona, AZ...

Draconian Club Checkrides? by Chris Schmelzer
I wanted to run this by everyone to see if I was being reasonable being upset. I started flying as a student in December, 2003. I joined a local non-profit club to do my training and flew exclusively with them for almost a year. This includes approximately 50 hours of time in two C152s,...

Dumb Reg question by John Gaquin
"RST Engineering" wrote in message . Jim..... You were mighty quick to jump onto BT's answer, and here you are also picking at Slick's post. Just for the sake of accuracy, could you clarify a couple of points for me? 1. You officiously quibbled over Slick's use of the...

longe check rides by Robert M. Gary
The last couple students I've sent for checkrides have taken about 6 hours. This is with two different examiners. Both did excellent on the oral. Is this something the FSDOs are telling the examiners. Are private checkrides just getting longer? I took my private in the mid 90's and my oral was only...

PIREP: Potomac TRACON Tour by Charlie Derk
All - Just wanted to post my experiences from a tour that I took today of the Potomac TRACON in Warrenton, VA. First off, I got my instrument rating back in January, and today was the first time I flew a ton of hard IFR. It was a 2.3 hour trip from KABE to KHEF. I went IMC at 1000' MSL and...

Hi all, I'm looking for a line drawing type vector graphic of a top view of a cessna single engine, or other single engine high wing plan. I can convert the one in the cessna manual by scanning it, converting, and retracing it, but I thought I'd check to see if anyone else has done it yet and...

I have to ask why you feel it's reasonable to turn this guy in to the FSDO but not to copy license plate numbers of speeders and turn them in. I didn't make the post, but I do have some reasons. Way back when... when I was learning to fly and learning how the regs worked, it was made clear...
