Portable TABS coming to the USA? by son_of_flubber
Is portable TABS (non 2020 compliant ADS-B-out) coming to the USA in 2020? This unit looks a lot like portable TABS. https://uavionix.com/products/skyecho/ It also implements FLARM, and I think that would need to be disabled in the USA. The price point looks right.

I need help in identifying a program used in Europe for post-flight processing of IGC competition files. The program may either be a stand-alone processor or it may be part of a scoring program. The forty -three processed IGC files I have were recorded during a competition in Germany at...

Parowan Region 9 by Tuno
Day 1 preliminary scores are posted at the SSA web site. In Sports class, KS top gunned the day at 92mph (raw speed) but TF (Nick Kennedy) won the day in his Twin Astir, however we're still trying to find a GPS fix on TF's actual handicap. Stay tuned. In 15M, Rick Culbertson (21) nicked Andy...

Wiggly amps by Don Johnstone
There have been many suggestions over the past few months to fit equipment to gliders of all flavours, most of them requiring electrical power. The list is long, transponders, strobe lights, anti collision warnings and thermal predictors. We already have electric varios, turn and slip,...

Lambada Motorglider Down at 5C1 by 150flivver
Just saw where a Lambada pilot deployed the chute and descended under canopy near Boerne Stage airfield. It sounds like he could have had a flight control malfunction but this is pure speculation.

DG's new requirements for older DG ships by Bernie[_3_]
I'm wondering what other owners of older DG ships think of DG's requirement to pay a fee upfront in order to purchase parts and software to maintain their gliders. I own a DG 202/17. LL

Too fast vs too slow by Ramy
Say overall speed is not an issue (you are not racing) and the only objective is to achieve best glide to make it home with a marginal final glide. Also lets assume you fail to maintain the correct speed and deviate +/- 10 knots. Which will have less penalty, flying 10 knots too fast or too slow...

Soaring conditions around the USA this season so far by son_of_flubber
May 2014 in Vermont was excellent for this year. I managed to fly on seven days. 4/7 days had rare strong lift, high ceilings, and reasonable wind. Last year June was mostly rain, but maybe the good weather pattern will continue. I'd be interested to read meteorological retrospection on why the...

AMS Flight and LS6 Upper Rudder Bushing by Dan M
Hello, For those that don't know, AMS Flight (www.ams-flight.si) in Slovenia owns the type certificate on the LS4 and LS6 gliders, and has been providing support for them. Unlike DG, they do not require you to pay the "LS Tax". They do not support the LS1, LS3, or LS8. That said, I emailed them...

OLC max altitude self censorship by [email protected]
I soar for fun, usually alone when normal people are working or doing some other socially responsible activity.Â* XCSoar or a (GPS-based) flywithCE position recorder is all I need for uploading .igc files to OLC. On a warm/hot day over the Rocky Mountains, it's common to see 17,900' MSL on my...
